Here is the problem with comparing the shooting of children with abortion, as a matter of argumentation: Everyone agrees that born children are people who are entitled to “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” just like eveyone else. Not everyone agrees that an unborn fetus is a person. Hence, pro-life people and pro-choce people approach the abortion debate from opposite philosophical premises about whether the subject is a person, which is not the case in the gun debate, making the abortion comprison invalid.
And I have seen nothing more stupid than some of the NRA logic on adding more guns to the only nation in the world that already has almost 1 gun for every man woman and child.Of course those guns seem to be mostly in the hands of a small number of people (NRA and criminals – is there a difference?)

However, I believe that if you want that gun so badly, you should pay the highest tax allowable by the law to buy the gun, the highest fee for licensure and regular back grounds checks when you renew…and if by chance your precious gun is used to take another human life then you should be held accountable…your child uses the gun and kills another, you will be held accountable; you sell the gun to someone who uses it to take a life, you will also be accountable and so on.
You want that 2nd amendment right…well, with it comes great responsibility.
Gun violence IS going back UP! Granted we, gratefully, had a bit of a lull, but projection now in the next couple years, guns WILL exceed automobile ACCIDENTS as cause of death.
The ’toon reminded me of a couple “good southern grade schoolers” a few years ago who sat on a hill with a rifle and picked off a few of their classmates, it hardly made news at the time.
Yes, when given guns, kids DO kill kids. The days of being warned about putting an eye out with your Red Ryder BB gun have been replaced with giving kids MAC 10’s, and AR 15s. They take out a lot more than an eye.

April 30: Cumberland, KY 5-year old kills 2-year old with .22 his father gave him (the Cricket “My First Rifle”)
Also in April: New Jersey, 6-year old shoots 4-year old while “pretend shooting” with a .22.
The next day, a 6-year old shot and killed his mother in Lebanon, TN.
