    after the summer soltice, the days will be getting shorter, and the nights longer, unless you live at the equator. or, the southern hemisphere.

    It’s always summer (supplemented with the rainy season) here in the Philippines where the days and nights are more or less the same duration all year. I like it here…

    I much prefer to live by the traditional calendar where the Summer Solstice is Mid-Summer’s Day. Makes more sense.

    Not all countries mark the seasons by the solstices. Some southern hemisphere countries mark winter’s start as 1 Jun.I think this may be partly due to the Julian-Gregorian calendar shift.
