Wally helps the living while Doc marks a body for the morgue. Doc see all Endtowners as human – just not the best examples of humanity.

seems like the council objective is endtown destruction…………i doubt linda is the only ex topsider in there , ive seen some of them being ok with being killed after becoming a mutant . what if some of those are in endtown trying to destroy it from within ( the dont seem the type to care if they die with it )

So those shots from the elevator after they discovered the dead rat, must have hit someone(s). It looks like the one Doc is trying to fix is unfixable. Yeah, I agree. As a nurse I developed a attitude to doctors. What do you call the medical student who graduated at the BOTTOM of his class……. you call him doctor. Humanity stinks. Blessed Be

Doc is trying to make a point here. With all of the wounded lying on the ground needing help, the mob is still focused on rushing the elevators. Even the mutants have no interest in helping their injured neighbors.

Robert Nowall said, What is human?

Well, I asked this myself a lot of time, especially if humanly means what we think is of virtue or how we really are. In the later case, humanly isn’t really desirably…

My aunt told me, whenever you see violent video of a disaster (like the Boston Marathon bombing), don’t focus on the carnage. Focus on the people who rush in to help. There’s the humanity.

I’m reading this off my mobile phone. Does any one notice the unmutated human in panel one? Now move to panel four it seems that the goat on his left has his arm around him and the dog on his left is closeby. Perhaps a comfort/solidarity thing? Or maybe scartoma, we see what we wish to see. Its out of focus, if course, leaving to us to make up our own conclusions. You notice no one is after him. He walks freely amoungst the other mutants

Capacity for good?! Genocide every 10 years, WMDs that kill for centuries, an extinction rate greater than the K-T event, mass murder over religious differences, rampant pollution, nuclear winter, climate change, Global wars, torture, … etc. How many of these have been in the last 15 years?

So the Endtowners now have a new slogan/meme. I’ve been thinking all along that Humanity is the reason their world is a barren wasteland and they are living in a hole a mile underground. Somebody should tell Allgood and his followers that they shouldn’t embrace their “human values.” They should strive to be better than that.

What happened in Endtown was more HUMAN than they know.My question is what is the crowd doing behind them? They seem directed at something. Looking at something.Unless they are close to the elevators but then all would be looking up. “Other” casualties I would guess. Maybe even the Rat who was gunned down. In war it is said this way. There is no winner or loser in a battle. Only the dead and the living. The Politicians decide who wins. The soldier only knows life and death.

Robert,Not to detract from what you typed. I heard “another” version of that story. After JC said his piece suddenly a rock flew out of the crowd and bonked her on the head. JC turned around and said“MOM????”A minister told me that joke.

That new drawing? is very cute. with little Dottie riding upon mayor’s shoulder. I can’t make out what that is in the background. Is it someone’s spirit leaving? Or is it showing someone in the distance? I don’t think there are so many dead. maybe a dozen or so. Out of the 3 rats, they can’t have shot hundreds. Wounded from breaking windows and all is probably most of it, or grazed by a bullet. I could just be optimistic. There really are only a few helping. I agree that most are still waiting for a rat to show up so they can clobber and kill him. In the whole, it seems that we humans are the most vicious animals on earth.

Wabbit,That is what usually happens. A few will rush in and care for the wounded and dead. The most just mill around either uncertain or unwilling to do anything. This is a leaderless mob. How the mob reacts now depends on who steps up and becomes the spokesman. It can be a cry for peace and calm or a cry for war and retaliation. The mob could march on Allgood’s offices, homes, just go all rampant and looting.Even turn on those who were “members” of the Society like Roxie. Allee already accused one in the bar of being a “member” and on the council. What if some one in the crowd pointed out Roxie as turning in Linda and company thereby starting all this mess? I have seen crowds once unified become polarized as the demonstrations went on. They turned on each other. That was why the LT rat was wanting to at least gain control and get folks off the streets and back home. Not to seize control as in a coup but prevent further escalation of violence. If the Security is not being sent it will have to fall on someone to keep the mob under control or take over and go all nuts.

I meant her HUSBAND not her. Got ahead of myself but you can see the point. “J’accuse” was the cry in the French Revolution and thousands died just from accusation.

Wabbit,Life has always lived by a thread. Go back and review human history going way back. According to archeologists we nearly did not make it at all. It all falls back to a few in the cradle of humanity Africa. Its called the “Eve” story. Humanity nearly went extinct several times in history. The Plague killed millions. Whole civilizations went extinct due to diseases, viruses. Not to mention wars where entire cities were put to death and burned to the ground. That meant no survivors to carry on that DNA line. Its not a modern occurrence it has gone on for thousands of years. Here recently on a Science show it was shown that all Europeans are basically related going back about a thousand years to Charlemagne’s rule where humanity began to settle down somewhat. But what got me is the link back to Africa just after the First Ice Age. That was all that was left. Given everything else its amazing we even made it at all.BUT that is our universe. Endtown is somewhat parallel but very different. Some values are similar but maybe viewed differently. Aaron built the Endtown Universe so only he knows all its rules.

It’s funny how humanity tries to separate itself from the animals that live in the world.Or used to, as the case is here. When you consider the three categories (animal, mineral and vegetable), where do humans fit in?We’re not minerals. We’re not vegetables.Perhaps the Great Mutation was a way to remind the people that humans have always been, and always will be, just another type of animal.Only time will tell if the lesson will sink in.

Dragoncat,I have argued that point for years in Philosophy class. I was always reminded of all THE GREAT CREATIONS humanity has come up with. It is what SEPARATES us from the lowly Animals.I point out we are all creations of this planet. Evolutionary products of the great DNA act. We just accidentally got some parts of it together to make us what we are. First it was HUMANITY MADE TOOLS.Chimps make tools. A bird will use a rock to break open a snail. HUMANITY MADE LANGUAGE.Animals communicate. Dolphins, Dogs, nearly every creature on earth communicates in some form. We don’t understand or is it we just don’t listen. HUMANITY CREATED CIVILIZATION.Sure we banded together for mutual aid and survival butDogs live in packs. Ants, Bees live in colonies. The only major thing is we are the most evolved animal due to the fact WE CAN CHANGE THINGS on a GLOBAL stage. We affect everything on Earth. That I will give us credit for.

Getting back to the comic, panel 2 & 3 shows Doc covering the body of one of the Endtown citizens. This is no doubt Spike who was shot two weeks ago (or in Aaron Neathery’scontinuity, a few hours ago, perhaps two).

Time TravelerAs a fan of science fiction I have often wondered what those of other worlds would think of us. In theory they could have the same impulse to create and destroy that we have. I’ve always hoped that they would have a better control of the impulse to destroy. My reasoning is that if their survival would be iffy if they couldn’t keep their impulse to destroy on a short leash. “Survival of the wisest”, if you will.

I think we need a pidepipper!! To be human in my being, raised by a very strict man, His explanation of why he is “spanking” me was much worse than the actual spank. His final clue of how angry he was, " go get a stick". My point here although it may not appear in my previous spout, if we stopped, took a breath and quickly think 1) I hear this..or, what did I really hear that?.. 2)If I heard right, I will answer like this…..3) How will he react…..angry, hurt, insulted, agreeable, answer without thinking himself/herself about his/her reaction to what is said…4) wait a second, what did he actually say or was something else I heard. 5) who or what was involved in this statement…It looks like a time consuming moment. It is not. Try it.In the a movie, I can’t remember which, The mother of the lady in question sings "" We are carefully, carefully taught".So don’t put it in writing. It bounces back harder than a spoken comment.Blessed Be

I made a comment to veteran about how I love history, how he has done a lot of research and that I read that everyone except Africans have Neanderthal DNA, It showed up twice and I deleted one and they both vanished. That has happened several times. Could be my computer, I had it in to be looked at today, all very frustrating. But Veteran has so much good insight.

" “What is distasteful to you, do not do to others. All the rest is commentary.” Can’t remember if that was said by Hillel, or Akiva."That was Hillel, upon being asked(ordered?) to recite the whole of the law, while standing on one foot. Within the Abrahamic religions, it first appears in the Talmud in Leviticus 19:18. It is one of the only universal cross-cultural mores I can find. Only problem is, people tend to think of us and them, and extend it to others unless they don’t know them very well, or they are the others, or whatever excuse people need to bend the rule. Akiva also said it, but he came after Hillel.JusSayin
