Would it make Rat happy if Stephan stayed in jail while the animals and baby were bailed out?

    Sherlock….

I do hope the Swami Mommy warned my left-wing friend, Tommy, the Commie.

I think an origami salami tsunami would drive him quite balmy.

He hates salami…. though he does buy pastrami to feed his gourami.

Folks! Wake up and repent daydreaming in school……..That is NOT A PUN; it"s an alliteration……..a repetition of two or more words beginning with the same letter, or having the same sound. Stephan makes wonderfully, groan-inducing puns….but this aint one ofem.

Rhyming words, actually, but simply rhyming words does not make Pastis a poet.

On a visit to an art gallery we sausage an origami. As for the quality of the pun, I think it was the wurst.

It’s not a pun, it’s not alliteration…but it’s wordplay. It’s rhyming words, but not rhyming lines like in a poem…. (not that all poems rhyme.) I guess I’d say it’sa form of parachesis…a very tight form, since the words are fairly exact rhymes…But really, who cares WHAT literary device it is…. It’s funny.Isn’t that the point?

I don’t know why pig didn’t make it on a straw mat and use more lunchmeat, the it would be an origami, salami, pastrami, tsunami on tatami.

Ahhhh – yesterday, the first panel (about Rat taking up origami) made me think that Pastis was leading up to a pun. When that didn’t happen, I felt a little empty. Now I realize that he was giving us a two-day set-up for a tsunami of a pun. My faith is restored!

Actually they’re a string of what are called “feminine” rhymes in which the last two syllables rhyme. rather than “masculine” rhymes in which only the last syllable rhymes.

Amid all the discussion of what kind of word play this is, I’m surprised that no-one (unless I have missed a comment) has said anything about Pastis having used TWO DAYS’ strips to set this one up. Yesterday’s strip seemed a little flat and I wondered if he was getting ready for something else.
