I’m having a hard time cracking the code of the explosion lines in P3. Did the fielder run into the fence or did the ball hit him in the right side? Oh wait, I know! Did his appendix burst? Is that it?

“Lots riding on these last two games”? The school’s double-play record simply can’t be construed as that big a deal, even in a town like Milford, unless Alan Trammell and Lou Whitaker played for the Mudlarks.

Are these summer league games now? Is play downs before district or district before play downs? I’m confused. How did the graduations go?

Ummm…Marjie Ducey. Haven’t seen Gil with that much energy since, well. he last spoke with Marjie.

Everyone is enamored with the school double play record, which of course is the most coveted record there is. In P3, what the hell was that outfielder doing? Did he leap at the fence only to have the ball hit about knee level?

And P1 maybe answers a question I was planning to ask. Do they have “playdowns” in baseball? I don’t think so, I don’t remember that phrase being used in this strip for baseball. What’s the deal with “districts” – that’s like…normal!

I agree with Chip. That guy in P3 does look a little drunk and I’m afraid he might have taken a few sips from Marty Moon’s special thermos during an interview.

I think P3 is a promotional tie-in with World War Z. Or Otis’s son transferred from Mayberry to Milford.

In P3, I think he may have stepped in some peacock droppings

I don’t think you get credit for driving in runs on a fielding error that obvious.

P2 – going in for the kiss! Gil, you dog, you!

The fielder in P3 is clearly going to sue Milford for the injury caused by their poorly-placed fence. ObKNOXious will take his case pro bono and get paid with a swirlie courtesy of the rest of the team. Hrrrack!

P2 — Foreshadowing the next conflict: After a missed double play that denies them the record and knocks the team out of districts, Knox sues Jimmy, claiming that Jimmy tanked so Knox could not get the record and the scholarship to play baseball at Milford Law College.

The fence is obviously electrifed. That’s the arc flashes where the outfielder and the ball made contact.
