Snakes are good and have their place in the eco-order. Even the mosquito, nasty to humans, is a food source for many songbirds and other creatures, as well as possibly a source for a future albeit less terrifying “Jurassic Park”. Cockroaches and silverfish, on the other hand, are just icky nasty. I know of no other animal that relishes or catsups them on their menu, and they will continue to see the bottom of my shoe as their last glimpse on earth.

Hah! I like it that Janis’ Dad did not particularly like Arlo in the beginning. That would be an enjoyable retrospective to see…. Janis’ parents, and for that matter Arlo’s parents and how their first meetings went. Perhaps JJ will consider a story arc of that sort?

“Deer, mice and rabbits live there naturally, only humans have that hubris to call them pests.”

The deer that nibble gently on the rose,The bees collecting pollen for the hive,Are Nature’s creatures, as are all of thoseWho, in our gardens, eat to stay alive. Our world was such a garden long ago,With all Creation equal in regard,Yet two there were ignor’d their Master’s “No!”(Perhaps He should have chained them in the yard!)Did Eve and Adam, breaking God’s tabooBy copping apples, causing Mankind’s fall,Hang scape upon the humble hedgehog who,On seeing serpents, curls into a ball?Yes, Man is worse by far than all the rest,Yet dares to call another “Garden Pest!”
