in Cloquet, those trees that survived the 1918 fire were by common consent left alone. they were about the only things left alive after the massive fire. the fire is why there are not many old growth trees left.
The road behind our house is lined with Mountain Ash……..They’ve seeded all over the place and we’re fed up with it but the council won’t do anything about it. Now that there is an ash disease in the UK, maybe they will. But I doubt it.
Large trees around here are disappearing fast. The remainder are butchered by the power company. It won’t be long before the youth think a 10 inch tree is a big tree..Mr. Brookins I just love seeing your trees in the strips.

In some areas, the tree trunk would be covered with gang tagging. In no case would it be left pristine. He must have carved that heart last month.
