JUDGE PARKER: Cryptography is " the science of keeping information secret." I am impressed with April’s NSA position as becoming a cryptologist is exceptionally difficult and requires proficiency in advanced mathematics. MARY WORTH: Nice scenery! I agree with woodworker that Mary needs to change into appropriate apparel. I hope she packed something suitable for the desert clime!

Mandrake – I’m actually finding these introductions helpful. But I’m still concerned about Fred Fredericks.Judge Parker – A recent PBS series called Bletchley Park was about 4 English women working as cryptologists in WWII, later using their skills to solve a crime. I wonder if that inspired this story line.My dictionary defines it as “secret writing”, “the enciphering and deciphering of secret code”. In other words, it may involve putting our secrets into code or trying to uncover someone else’s secrets.

NOTE- CRYPTO- Back in ’66 when I was stationed in Camp Pendelton CA. , I was assigned to Headquarters, Hdqs,Hdqs area 24 , worked in the office 8hrs. day nite shift,from Vietnam we would receive messages in “cyrpto” of thename of each USMC Marine that was killed that day. That way, nobody new the casualities they had taken out over there in the Western Pacific. We deciftered it to English, thenusing a Teletype machine( no computer then) , I would sendit to the nearest MC base / or Reserve Unit closes to his family, and they would send two Marines to visit the familywith the bad news………………………………………………………..
