    Good morning all…

Hy Pressure put the pressure on! I hope MM/Mysta plays a part in Hy’s departure with her high voltage ‘shazams’.

Looks as though Hy’s pressure has succeeded in getting Pop Wheaton to change his mind about the mineral rights. I expect Pressure has a carefully prepared contract handy for the occasion, so all that’s needed is a witness or two. Now who do you suppose that might be?

You can’t smell the comics, but I’m guessing this Pressure guy smells like way too much really bad after shave. You know, the kind that you can smell a mile away? This cats just sleazy.

Hy Pressure’s car has the typical 21st Century styling with an old-fashioned feature; the ignition key in the dash rather than on the steering column.

I wanted to respond to those who did not care for my comment yesterday. I did not say whether or not I favored the fracking process nor did I comment on the safety of the process. In fact, I agree with those stating that the EPA hasn’t found problems with the fracking process itself. There are, of course other issues that are involved with the process that still need to be considered: like what to do with used fracking fluids for example. Morrow, contrary to what you believe I DO have a good understanding of the process. My comments yesterday were based on 2 reports that were broadcast on NPR All things considered on July 29. Here are the links: www.npr.org/2013/07/29/206635127/legal-battles-increase-over-pipeline-projects http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=206728504

We can’t control the trolls that patrol our waters…

Not sure the real intent of Mike and Joe by bringing up fracking in Dick Tracy. But for better or worse, they brought it up, and it has served as a wonderful distraction to the actual story.

My two cents: Regarding NPR, a few years ago, Mike Rosen, an ueber-conservative on KOA, one of many ueber-conservative talk radio stations in Denver, ran a survey on broadcast media. On his list, NPR ended up pretty much in the middle, with at least as many media outlets to the left of NPR as there were to the right.

Now, that sounds “fair and balanced” to me!

And sadly, some of the “left” leaning media are, in fact, owned by the media moguls that own KOA! (I’m talking Clear Channel, aka iHeart) This goes so far as to suggest that much of these commercial news and talk media outlets are little more than a shill – just trying to stir up people in order to claim more listeners and to sell more advertising.

In the meantime, back to Dick Tracy, I just hope our comments section doesn’t end up like Doonesbury’s, with Guard Sergeants, name calling, and everybody beating each other up.

I like the comments sections for Chickweed and Pibgorn!

    Moving on.

I, too, liked *Pequod77*’s description of Chicago, what was once my home town.

And I liked that share of Locher’s Dick Tracy, in the granary, with PTRS (Post Traumatic Rats Syndrome)! Mike and Joe tend to draw Richard with a strong resemblance to the man of steel; perhaps it’s appropriate that his kryptonite is rodents!

Perhaps this could be used in a future story arc!

Sam Catchem has Fritz Ann and Dick Tracy has his rats!

I’m also concerned that Wheaton’s giving up too easily.

In the beginning, he gave more than one of us the creeps because he seems happy to take in these strange women, not knowing who they are or where they came from and not bothering to notify any authorities in the event that these were “missing persons.”

Someone opined that perhaps he has an aversion to said authorities, which might also be a reason he is about to “cave” instead of

    CALLING DICK TRACY!

TO ALL THE ANTI-FRACKERS: Get ready to lose your crackers (breakfast). On today’s front page, Ford is offering in its 2014 F-150’s an option to burn natural gas. We have one field here (the Eagle Ford) that has almost 2,000 high pressure gas wells that are shut down because of low demand and price. The formation matches the size of Saudi Arabia’s resources. Hence, Prince Alaweed’s anti-fracking statement 2 days ago. In South Texas, we are actually flaring off natural gas. You will now be able to buy vehicles that burn it and it doesn’t have to be refined. Add in the Bakken (sp?) and others, we have fuel to take us past the next 2 century marks. Before fracking, it was unreachable. The Saudis see it as taking bread off their table.

This is why entertainment should be devoid of political talking points. No matter what your point of view, it will always alienate a share of your audience.

I’m really sick of all the fracking complaints (pun intended). All Mike did was use fracking as a plot device – it’s no different than if the bad guys wanted to buy the land because they knew developers wanted it to (A) build condos, (B) build a supermall, © bring the railroad through (wait – that was “Blazing Saddles”).Some people are such hysterics that just the mention of a word these days sends them whirling into a paranoid fit, ranting nonsense about anyone and anything whose opinion is different from theirs.Grow up, people. Switch to decaf, and stop listening to talk radio.

Is it wrong for me to want to smack Mr. Pressure upside the head with a sledgehammer? Of all the villains in the Curtis/Staton era, he’s the one I want just… gone.

Hmmm, seems the eruption on Alley Oop has carried over. Folks, just say frack it and enjoy the strip. It matters not if mr pressure is black or white. Hes gonna be plaid when Mysta gets through with him. Just enjoy the ride and leave the politics out of it.
