I once caught myself looking up the weather on my cellphone instead of just dragging my lazy posterior out of bed and have a look out the window, and decided that was an embarrassing all-time low. Since then I don’t bother to check the weather at all.
I once went with a friend and his 10 year old son to the National Air and Space Museum in Washington. Neither of them showed much interest in looking at the real aircraft and spacecraft that were displayed there. But if an exhibit had a video monitor replaying some clip related to the actual physical display, they were all attention!
Ooh, that reminds me of the first Summer when I lived in Memphis. There was a huge storm (not a tornado, but rather strong linear winds) that uprooted dozens of trees. I personally saw four cars that had been crushed by them and a couple of houses, and that was in the small part of town where I stayed. Oddly I never saw much coverage of it in the national news.
I have pictures of the wreck caused by the wind storm of Dec 15,2006. Including one of the old chestnuts on my street and of several of the thousands of trees lost at Stanley Park. Even the animals looked a little dazed..
