Walt’s birth year was given as 1898 in a 2001 strip, making him 115 in 2013. I don’t know that it really works to try and slip him past the turn of the century, considering that things like his WWI service and Skeezix’s birth are tied to specific dates. Not to mention the fact that Phyllis was married during WWI—to her first husband, Jack Blossom—and there’s nothing about her being older than Walt during their courtship or early marriage.Bumping Walt up to 1902 means he was allowed to adopt a baby at age 19, when he wouldn’t even have been old enough to vote. I think we have to stick with the 1898 date and assume that Phyllis wasn’t much younger. I figure she couldn’t have been born later than 1900.
I think my dad felt like this before he died because even though he lived with me and my young children he had dementia and didn’t remember me or my sisters. He only remembered my brother who is the oldest. He didn’t see him or his own siblings often enough and felt very lonely.
My comment is based on this strip on age. South of metro ICT, KS small town there is a older gentleman who just celebrated his 101 birthday working at WalMart and continues doing so. He made the local news. I’m not sure when he started working there or his personal background and he loves working there. I also do not know if he is a veteran.
Super is used here as a prefix, smart guy. When used as a prefix it means “above, beyond, to have passed or exceeded.” As in supersonic, to mean to have exceeded the speed of sound. Or as in superdumbass, used to describe certain internet trolls who don’t have a clue when to keep their yaps shut.
I once met a lady in her 90s (97 if I remember correctly) who informed me that she spent Sundays and holidays “visiting old people in the nursing homes” in her small town. She still drove there, but had someone else driver her anywhere else.
