This is not about whether to buy something or not, this is about the boundaries of good taste. Dzohkar Tsarnaev killed people in Boston who did nothing to him, and RS wants to portray him like some pop culture icon? Please tell me you are more empathetic than you appear.
Steve? I wonder why you are compounding the outrage committed by the Rolling Stone magazine by even attempting to reproduce their latest idiotic cover? Bad form Steve, very bad form!!
TIME Man [Person] of the Year:1937 Chiang Kai-shek/Soong May-ling1938 Adolf Hitler1939 Joseph Stalin1942 Joseph Stalin1957 Nikita Khrushchev1965 General William Westmoreland1971 Richard Nixon1972 Richard Nixon/Henry Kissinger1974 King Faisal1979 Ayatollah Khomeini1995 Newt Gingrich2007 Vladimir Putin.You were saying…?
I wonder if the magazine could glamorize him so well/could be ACCUSED of glamorizing him so well if he was an ugly man in his sixties.
Yes, he has his (stupid) fan girls, so do many murderers on death row. As Beebee once said it about human libido :“If those bits cause you so many problems, I know a good vet!”
READ the bloody dam**d cover text! The magazine is asking what turned a likable and popular kid into a MONSTER! It’s obvious from comments here and elsewhere that radical conservatives are incapable of ANY analysis on ANY issue. Following dogma without questioning IS after all the defining character of “conservatism” in the dictionary, while “liberal” merely means open to ideas and analysis of new information, prior to judgement.
I don’t follow the music world, but I do read a friend’s copies of Rolling Stone when there are good articles on what’s happening in our culture, which is quite often. That writers like Matt Taibi get it right, and tick off the “conservative establishment”, especially on economic matters or analysis of where America may indeed be turning in the wrong direction, is important to follow what’s really happening. It is important to change direction sometimes, left or right, but it’s important it be the correct change for the good of the country.
Just a note, the Titanic sank because the captain was going forward with too much speed for conditions, and didn’t turn LEFT, away from the iceberg. (Yes, I know he wasn’t on the bridge at that moment. Analogy doesn’t have to be totally complete to be “accurate” in the lesson.)
Hmm. I’d want to read the article before I passed judgement. Also, the cover of Rolling Stone hasn’t been prestigous since the 80s. I am more concerned about the whole ‘Free Jafar’ movement that seems to be going on over the Internet. Have you seen any of the shots some of those very young girls are posting in relation to it? The Internet has far more influence these days than Rolling Stone does.
