Parental Advice To A Young White Male...
Parent: Don't forget to floss.
Once again Robbie plays to the simpletons. How about “Hey young black kids, don’t call people crackers, don’t punch somebody in the face because you think he’s creepy and then don’t follow it up by smashing his head against the sidewalk”. That would be more helpful.Oh ya, “And don’t riot in the streets destroying people’s property and sucker punching them because you think it’s fun”.
TM wasn’t trespassing. But you think he needed to die because someone else in the neighborhood thought he did. Also the tall tail you just repeated was parts of stories 3 and 4 that Zimmerman said. Like him you seem to have trouble keeping those lies straight.
Before we go to far, this story from Fox should be read by Conservatives. I used Fox so conservatives will believe it.^http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/05/19/woman-gets-20-years-for-firing-warning-shot/^As a white male who spent A LOT of time in 1960’s Mississippi, I understand and appreciate this cartoon. Back then, warnings to black youth included – “Don’t look a white person in the eye and don’t glare or look angry at them.” “Don’t argue if they accuse you of something, just apologize and try to get away when you can.”^I’ve seen black MEN slapped by white children and there was nothing they could do about it without fear of reprisal. While the world is much improved since then, it is still far from the point it needs to reach. ^ConserveGov – if you were being followed home by a man in a car what would you do? If you were near to your home, would you lead the man to your door? Trayvon should have called 911 himself. He could have also returned to the store where he bought his skittles and asked them to call the police. He didn’t think of that, and after being ADVISED by the 911 operator that they "Didn’t need him(Zimmerman) to do that(follow Martin), he got out of his car to talk to Martin. Had he OBSERVED and REPORTED the way neighborhood watches are supposed to, Martin would not be dead and wouldn’t have had anyone to call a cracker. Had he not gotten out of his car and confronted Martin, Martin would not have felt he needed to protect himself from a person that was behaving like a predator.Had Martin just run into his father’s house to escape the ‘predator’, Martin would not be dead. Martin wasn’t an adult, Zimmerman was. But no adult decisions were made in this instance.^When a black woman with no previous police record “Stands Her Ground” against an abusive husband and shoots a WALL gets 20 years, while a man who pursued and confronted another ‘man’ gets off after killing him, it is hard to think this law is being applied in an objective or civil manner.Respectfully,C.
Exactly. And don’t forget lynch mobs, which were once so popular and acceptable among white communities that attendees would smilingly, proudly pose with their friends for photographers while a black man or woman hung at the end of a rope.
Good Grief, but I am becoming more and more tired of this story, one way or the other. Yes, it is actually tragic from both sides, but it is certainly not worth rioting over, and may not even be worth all of the nasty posts we see on this site either. Even Rodney King (who did not turn out so well after all) had it correct when he said “Can’t we all just get along!”So let us all just try to get along, and then move along while we are at it!
Anytime one fires a gun where others are present, there is a chance for a bystander to get hurt. The fact that this woman was charged with something is not a surprise. However, it does seem strange that when a man who claims to be protecting himself shoots someone dead he faces no jail time, yet when a woman claiming self-defense shoots and no one is hurt she receives 20 years. Just seems that justice is a little uneven.
Speaking of which, what happened about that 4-year-old in Kentucky who shot his little sister dead with his new gun? Any repercussions with the parents who didn’t properly ensure that the gun was safely stored? I haven’t heard word one. Did we just say, “Tsk, tsk” and call it an unfortunate accident?
Maybe all this makes perfect sense to a lawyer. Of course, being able to bill hundreds of hours in a single day makes sense to one, too…..
Wait, the white parent left out the most important advice to his son: “Don’t forget to carry a gun!” I’m sure June Bug has at least one 9mm in his possession! The other kid, just skittles and an ice tea!
So white people never riot? Ever? How about the post-game rioting in Lexington, KY, in 2012? The rioters were predominantly white, as were the arrested. In fact, all the footage I’ve ever been able to find show ONLY young whites being arrested. And just because lynch mobs are no longer fashionable among white communities doesn’t mean the occasional case of a couple of beer-drinking good ol’ boys dragging an innocent black man behind a pickup doesn’t still happen. Oh, wait – was that incident too long ago for you? Was 2012 ancient history too? For you or any other of the elementary-school educated Teabaggers to openly suggest that ALL rioting is exclusive to black people and communities or that all black people think rioting of any kind as an expression of rage is appropriate, you really need to close your Radio Shack laptop, leave the trailer park for awhile and listen to what this rage is all about.
Yes and no. I recognize the vast differences in circumstances. But consider this: recently a teenager was driving down a 55 MPH roadway in this area. Somehow, a 2-year-old crawled out of his house onto the roadway. Due to budget cuts, the grass along the side of the roadway had not been cut. She never saw the kid, but her car killed him. She was charged with reckless driving and was judged guilty of a lesser charge, and had to perform community service. The parents were not charged at all, though they launched a civil suit against her.
Or a different circumstance: I have a friend whose wife opened a restaurant. Their accountant skimmed enough money to put them in bankruptcy before she was caught and got off on a technicality. My friend saw her driving the opposite way down a country road and gave her the finger. He was arrested and fined for some stupid reason I forget. Yet Ted Nugent gets away with the double one-finger salute on stage yelling hate against the POTUS, and we all yawn.
My only point is what I stated: punishments can seem disproportional. I meant nothing beyond that.
This cartoon portrays what Charles Blow & Jeff Canada said about they had to tell their kids.
I was overseas when the verdict was announced and I watched in on CNN (including interviews by Anderson Cooper). I don’t have sat/cable-TV and therefore do not normally view CNN. I’ve only ever seen Cooper on the Daily Show.I also saw an “Open Town Hall” type show on CNN with excellent guests, Jeff Canada(?) & Charles Blow, who explained to this utterly astonished non-American why the verdict was what it was. I was expecting a conviction of manslaughter at the very least. When I tried to explain this to my in-laws, who were with us, they were sure I was missing something. Nuh-uh.
Beggars belief that folks, including juror B37, attempt to demonise Trayvon Martin to justify supporting Zimmerman.
What this case clearly shows is how inane this law is. To even attempt to defend it shows just how depraved and immoral you’ve become.
Utterly stupefying, astonishing, shameful law. Strike it down as soon as possible. It makes your country look even worse.
I was baffled by Newt Gingrich. He sounded quite sane
Perfect. Your attention span is so limited, your vocabulary so tiny, your grammar so elementary, and your ability to reason effectively and honestly so puerile that you’ve become your avatar. If there was any consistencey at all to the stuff you write, it’s that it all sounds like it comes out of the mouth of a cartoon moron.
True, I was referring to KenM’s comment, not one of your own (though you all seem to be channeling the same hapless, dead, racist clown), who said above: “So, you’re (sic) conservative source material is about experiences from over four decades ago? When was the last time you witnessed or heard about whites rioting because something didn’t go their way?” to which I provided an answer.
One of our guys at Ft. Benning was arrested in Phoenix City, Alabama, for armed robbery. There were lots of witnesses that this black man did it. There was only one problem, at the time of the robbery, he was at his mother’s funeral in Los Angeles. Being black was “guilty enough” for them to make an arrest.
Interesting twist on the story, another friend called one of HIS friends and got the guy out of jail very quickly. The friend of our friend was Governor George Wallace!! Yes, even old George would stand by the facts and justice on occassion.
To be born a black male is one strike against you for way too many white people. When Obama was elected, I hoped that racism was finally ending. Boy was I wrong. The bigots came out from under the rocks and the twisted minds. What I don’t get is why ANY blacks, Latinos or women ever vote GOP.
If you think that the only advice white parents give their children on how to get along in the world is ’don’t floss’ you’re fullah that brown smelly stuff. I can remember my father telling me how to behave when a cop pulls you over. Keep the dome light on, keep your hands on the wheel where they can be seen, don’t reach for your ID and stuff until the cop asks for them.
Situational awareness is something all parents teach, white, black, red, brown, whatever!
Don’t talk about drug recipes on Facebook, arguing the merits of one variety of Purple Lean to another (which requires a drink and skittles to make… wonder if we’ll find Tray had purple lean/sippin sippin in his tox report)
