sigh, so true, just because we like something doesn’t mean we get it. There is a reason expensive clothes are desired…many times it is because they feel great and fit soooo nice.

I still get mine from the thrift stores, and still feel blessed.

Only a fool and their money spend like that on a growing kid, which looks as if she will outgrow in less than a year.

I’ve never paid more than $40 for a pair of jeans, which is more than any jeans are really worth.

$12 for the jeans, $108 for the label — Gram doesn’t buy that logic, Holly!

I found some nice comfortable jeans at Sears for $15. Felt really lucky about that as the rest were at least $40.

Good point, Evie! And I’ve tried on expensive jeans to see if they fit better, and they don’t (at least on me). I think you just need to find what fits you and go with that.

As long as the jeans fit well and the pockets in back look good on the booty, they don’t have to cost more than 50 bucks. Just picked up a great pair at Target for less than 10 dollars because they were getting rid of some older ones for a new batch (and these were still nice slim jeans that were in style). I can still remember when my mother refused to pay more than 20 dollars for Calvin Klein jeans for me quite a ways back. I still got jeans that looked nice and it taught me a good lesson about value and saving.

How you think Evie survived bring up Joan and Val? We are a long way from dealing with(I apologize ahead of time for being ‘politically incorrect to all the females who remember the Korean War) a ’dumb old broad’. I get the impression that Evie for one reason or another was a single Mom.

The only jeans that fit my tall, skinny granddaughter are expensive jeans and she has tried on a lot of jeans.

I shop with the grandkids using their parents’ debit card. If one of them wants something that I think costs too much, I ask them to call their mom and see whether she approves. Sometimes she does, sometimes not.

With regards to Indyman and gkid:

Agree with you both – Evie is a great character.

She might be a widow or a divorcee, but one doesn’t have to be a single mom to be practical or frugal.Dumb isn’t necessarily a condition of age, either.Evie has common sense, and a good heart. – That’s a rare combination – young or old, male or female

Probably telling my age by this:

Jeans were forbidden as school wear when I was a kid.Girls had to wear dresses or skirts and boys needed pants with a belt – and no rivets..Mom bought our jeans for after school and weekends – usually at Sears, or Penneys or ‘Monkey’ Wards. If we were really lucky, we got them from the westernwear store – on sale, of course..Most of the time, we wore hand-me-downs from older siblings.

That’s when Gramma tells Holly that she has $30 for her jeans. She had better come up with the rest. I can guarantee Holly will decide they aren’t worth all that.

There are no jeans on Earth – either on, in, above, under, within, or around the Earth – that are worth more than twenty dollars.Regardless of the name, the “style,” or anything else. No jeans are worth more than twenty dollars.

One more reason why I go to places like DI and Savers for decent clothes at decent prices.

“Nothing wrong with Walmart!”>I disagree. There are other low end stores that treat their employees better.

Bloomingdales has Diesel brand jeans – pre-ripped and what looks like oil stains and dirt rubbed in – for only $348 each. Heckuva deal!

I want to know where Walmart gets those shirts that shrink one size on every washing. Once my 2XL’s have washed down to mediums they’re off to the thrift store!

I think I paid $11 for my last pair of work jeans, it’s hard to find jeans with a 30" waist that aren’t for little kids.
