Most political cartoonists have their leanings, but try, maybe 40% of the time, to portray the other side in an attempt at some measure of fairness. Better than most other aspects of the media.
As sick as I am of Democrats trying to rob the industrious to pay for the needs and wants of the indolent.
I am even more sick of Republicans trying to Rob us of our liberties and freedoms.
The Republican party has really become one of Religious Zealots and anti-intellectuals. The war on women continues to turn off middle of the road voters and the wars on Drugs and the middle east have been disasterously expensive and unneccessary.
We need a Rand Paul to step up and domesticate the idiocy that has become mainstream Republicans.
Good read on the Health Care Act. Also below it an article on the Medicare “Donut Hole”. http://comments-life.blogspot.com/2013/07/affordable-healthcare-act-i-have-tried.html
The Republicans have put themselves in a no win situation. Everyone knew the Democrats would keep trying to get us to a single payer system and Republicans did nothing. Being able to pay for Obamacare was based on a 9% annual growth in the economy, a farce which Republicans failed to even touch during the last campaign. Lastly, if the government shuts down Republicans will shoulder the blame, just like they did in the nineties – even though we were to find out later that it was actually the result of a negotiation between Clinton and tthe government workers’ union.
Gorrell is correct. He’s a very conservative cartoonist, but knows (correctly) that this argument is a disaster for his side. Abraham Lincoln had exactly the same problem with Southern conservatives. He compared it to a robber who has you at gun point. “Give me all your money. If you refuse, I’ll have to shoot you, and then you’ll be guilty of murder!”
Yeah, that would be great, IF THEY REALLY INVESTED IN JOBS PROGRAMS AND PUBLIC INFRASTRUCTURE!But we all know what happened with the one trillion dollar TARP bill… And the same thing will happen with this one…

@ Mephistopheles and Michaelwme:
Thank you. Everyone on this site should be required to read your posts, more than once if they don’t get it the first time.

Newt lost his Speaker-ship over that idiocy. Please, please, please do it again!

Why would a government shutdown be a bad thing for the GOP? Or us? I’d say it’s a win-win…

The real problem is that even if he pulls the trigger, there’s nothing left there to damage.
