The first step toward Detroit’s destruction was when unions got in bed with politicians. the second step was when Detroit allowed foreign automakers to do more innovating that they did, because they thought they had some kind of birthrate to our business. The third step was that the tax base moved away, leaving detroit to try and fund its overbloated city pensions with little cash.
Do some simple math DrCanuck, based on the number of people in the country and the participation rate in employment and you’ll see that on the Federal level, we are headed for the same basement. If more people researched this they would be staining their shorts at how out of control spending is, I don’t care how many of these phony " surpluses" they throw at the news.
