Some years back where I live it was possible to get an abortion only when two MDs would sign a paper saying that it was necessary for the life or health of the pregnant woman. So this young woman I knew (she was fifteen) got pregnant. Her father was (a) an MD and (b) Catholic. He had always refused to sign for other women, because he was Catholic, but he got two friends of his who were MDs but not Catholic to sign for his daughter. It feels a little different when it hits home.
The rich will always be able to get abortions. This is about punishing the poor. And keep in mind that when the babies of poor women are actually OUT, the GOP has voted to require them to work in order to get food assistance. Not that anything they do actually makes sense in the real world any more, but that one is particularly unChristian.

I couldn’t figure out for a while why there would be several books on this topic referencing Federal abuses, but none referring to the same abuses by the States – but then I realized that all the States are different; the excesses in yours are not the same as the ones in mine. The Feds apply to everyone.
Do read it. You might be less cavalier about your privacy (and mine) when you’ve finished, applied to all levels of government.

But the law doesn’t apply to most people; it applies to everyone, without exception.
