We like to blame it all on the woman, but its almost always that the man abandons her and his child.

I wasn’t aware that a nurse or a mid-wife would be allowed to perform an abortion.

Abortion should be free, encouraged, & have no stigma. The choice to use her body to incubate an embryo is entirely the woman’s. If you can’t support a child, I’d almost go so far as to say abortion should be mandatory. I won’t go that far — I do believe it should be the woman’s choice exclusively, with no coercion — but common sense should dictate having an abortion if you cannot support a child, do not want a child, have health problems that could be exacerbated by pregnancy, or if the foetus has any abnormalities. The cult of the unborn makes no sense. The life & health of a woman is worth infinitely more than an embryo.

It seem like if you wanted fewer abortions, you would want there to be fewer unwanted pregnancies. -And, you would want people to have easy access to birth control and be educated about different methods, including risks, side effects, moral aspects, and how they work.-You would think that Republicans would want this for the citizenry as a whole. -Instead, they follow Rush Limbaugh, who doesn’t seem to have a clue about the physiology.

“Since they’re not going to do away with this procedure, we will just have to tell ourselves that every abortion is just one less future Democrat voter.”

Whatever works for you, as long as you aren’t supporting policies that force women to bear against their will.

SAVE THE EGG! SAVE THE EGG! Let it grow up to age 18,then send it off to war to kill other peoples’ “eggs”, and get killed itself in combat, so you can buy cheap gas!!

For those who like Jesus – what did he say about abortion? He talked to “forbidden” women at the well – he ate with sinners and women of “ill repute” – - – -

Ran across my grandmother’s birth certificate, on the back, it listed how many kids my great-grandmother had, around the turn of the LAST century: she had 17, 5 died in infancy or before 3 years of age. Yes, times before birth control were indeed different! (btw- she lived to be 104 years old!) My grandmother only had two kids, but was widowed young and never remarried.

It’s just kinda’ interesting to reflect on family sizes when they needed the kids to work the farm, and didn’t have to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to raise them through high school!

I believe in the separation of church and State, just as our founding fathers did. And this abortion issue always seems to be a brought up by Religion who want a law (read state involvement). As such I am opposed to legislation this issue, whether it be federal, state or local legislation.

    Simple answer: no.

There is a simpler answer, too: we, and I, want to ensure that living human beings have CHOICE; that they are not coerced either way. That, right there, is a great parting of ways between Republican and Democrat.

Remember the big argument for legalizing abortions was to make the procedure safe – done with a licensed physician. With ObamaCare inducing 15% of Physicians to retire early, now the care is being downgraded as the cartoon indicates. The last time I was in an Urgent Care setting, the Physician Assistant tried three times to draw blood and couldn’t hit a vein. Everyone may get healthcare but it’s going to be pretty low quality.

And yes, There is a baby involved. And it is a life.

So who in your world makes the decision of life and death?

The person who IS alive, and IS a person: the mother.

Who decides who has rights and who does not?

People have rights. A developing, might-eventually-be person without a nervous system is not yet what they might become, and do not have rights which they will acquire with a functional consciousness and identity. I am disturbed by the fact that you cannot tell the difference between “potential” and “actual”.

But…oooo, the ‘slavery’ card! Hey, just a few more and my bingo card of “conservative talking point strawmen” will be full!

Gresch, read Harry Neuman’s experience, above. There are genuine people involved in these situations, and abortions are often necessary to protect the lives which are already here, and real, and very obviously aware and feeling. Those are the lives that you insult and devalue; those are the lives which you are trying to enslave to your blind ideology, and in so doing may destroy.

It’s not the government’s business. That is for sure.
