You are not really making a good case for an overinterpreted Second Amendment here. If we have a natural disaster, I don’t really want the homicidal psychopaths well-armed.

And the optional 500 round clip lets you make enough noise to drown out the voices in your head.

“He must be a democrat because the voices in their heads tell them what to do.”That explains much if you do not have internal monologues.

One is listening to the voices in his head, the other to the voices in his computer. Which is the more crazy one?

Actual crimes do get tracked liar. Can’t strip somebody of their Constitutional rights for a crime they never committed, which is what you apparently have a problem with.I hope you aren’t arguing that someone like Aaron Alexis had every right to buy a gun. Alexis committed crimes that didn’t show up in the background check in Virginia. He was being treated for a serious mental illness.Even if your stance is that we don’t need new laws, you have to admit that the system has flaws. The FBI & NCIS databases have failed to prevent guns being sold to people who had records of multiple arrests & mental illness.

Check and see how many gun lobbyists visited the WH this year, Radish.Got any links to show gun lobbyists at the White House? I’m skeptical that they are giving any money to Obama or the DNC.

Our local gun show is this weekend. What makes me nervous when I go to check things out, and look for a magazine for my rare semi-auto pistol, is the bumper stickers on the parking lot, all the cammo and crazy semi-military dress, the patches on these “uniforms”, and “cute” signs" for sale demonstrating a radical, and insane, devotion to firearms, and fear!

Listening to the “shoppers” IS a lot like the “customer” in the ’toon. in fact, at the last gun show, actually heard two guys saying exactly what the ’toon depicts! Hate to think how many of the several hundred others coming through were thinking or saying the same thing.

BUT, even with that, it should be recognized that these folks, to be honest, may be nuts, but are less likely to actually go on a “spree”, but may be MORE likely to blow away a family member, or someone they merely see as “invading their space”. We had a shooting just “over the hill” literally, where just such a guy killed a neighbor, for the SECOND TIME, because he, with the guns, felt “threatened” by the unarmed neighbors. This time at least they’ve picked him up, locked him up, and charged him. MIght have something to do with the fact both his victims were UNARMED and shot in the back, while on THEIR OWN PROPERTY!

Yes , the crazy people getting guns may indeed NOT be certifiable, and THAT is the real problem in regulating the truly dangerous, including criminals like gang members, drug dealers, or other “sane folks”.

Just like there was nothing in the national govt’s system telling them not to give him security clearance.

People ask me why I don’t hoard food or water in case of an emergency. I respond that I have a gun and basically I can get my food, shelter and water from those who don’t. Katrina and Sandy have shown that in an emergency there is no law and order

Thanks for doing the legwork, Radish. I knew this, but obviously a lot of the right-wingers do not.

Who said I am defenseless? When the nitwits run out of bullets (since they will miss most of the time anyway), I have other weapons.

most of the perpetrators had some kind of mental illness since there is no law requiring a mental background check and no federal policy regarding treatment and evaluation of mental illness. arguing over background checks is moot. since anyone sane or otherwise can gain access to firearms.

And you aren’t? There is no certainty short of the grave. Owning guns provide no guarantee of safety, and they GREATLY increase the chance that there will be a death in the household due to accident, suicide, or just someone losing their temper.Furthermore, you are assuming you can (1) get to your gun, (2) aim it accurately, not killing anyone else, and (3) shoot at someone who actually deserves it.Go look at the number for handgun deaths and see how many of them are “killing bad guys.” The ratio is about a thousand to one or more.

^Went to that gun show this morning. Some of that plastic for pinheads makes what this guy’s got look plain and straightforward! I think my son’s old transformers had less plastic. Even with bull barrels and possibly functional stuff, those “assault style” rifles are more show, with less go.

It IS interesting also talking to folks who know and use the more “classic” weapons, the much higher degree of sanity involved. Sorry, but the “nut jobs” are indeed the ones going for these pseudo-military guns.

Just a “by the way”, I renewed my membership in the local gun club (most are NOT in the “nut job” brigade, and I’m also a member of the Democratic Gun Owners Caucus.

Just being a shooter, and a gun owner, does NOT put one in the “crazy” category, Tigger, and many are actually open-minded people who can think for themselves, act responsibly, and care about the nation, as well as being informed on issues so they CAN do best for the nation, and their neighbors. DANG!! that makes ’em “liberals”!!
