I would have to disagree with that assessment. It’s definitely malignant.

The communist policies that caused the growth are malignant.

When the Republicans are capable of telling the truth about the issue, then I would be delighted. So far what we have from them are lies and mischaracterization; inaccurate statements about the plan itself, simple-minded lack of any acknowledgement that there is and was a need for reform because the system is already the most expensive in the world for the 37th-best service (and no provision at all for millions), and a complete lack of awareness of the true monetary cost of the broken system that they want to perpetuate.

No, you are right that the rank of 37th wasn’t based on “service”, it was in fact based on outcome and value for money.

Before the healthcare reform, more than 47 million American citizens were either uninsured or underinsured to the point of impacting service availability seriously; 86.7 million people went uninsured for at least part of the year in 2008. With healthcare reform, yes, millions will still be uninsured, but it trims between14 to 30 million off the chronically uninsured — plus insurance companies can’t get away with that “pre-existing conditions” nonsense. I am unclear as to why you think this is a bad thing.

And as someone who has been following healthcare costs and issues for about a decade, the idea that the ACA is more expensive than the previous system of hidden expenses is completely wrong.

Note, please: the insured have been paying for the uninsured for years. I’m always a little amazed that the people who (fairly or, often, unfairly) grouse about “free-riders” the most, seem to understand the least that the ACA tries to address the fact that people need to carry their own insurance; and the people grousing about “additional costs” for ACA don’t seem to remember that costs have been rising, faster even than they are now, for decades – and that previously you had no idea what it was you were paying for.
