When will folks learn ALL the debt belongs to the Congress that writes and passes budgets? When will folks admit that war, and “defense” are what run the debt up highest, next to paying the interest on that debt, and yes, then there’s all the stuff people paid for throughout their lives that some call “entitlements”, and others know is what they paid into,but that same Congress, for decades has failed to just keep up with actuarial tables??
The debt is not Obama’s. He had to dig out of a very big hole, and it’s quite unfair to blame him for the catastrophe caused by Bush and Greenspan. What’s more, if we’d followed his plan, the economy would be much stronger through stimulus spending, taxes would be higher, and the deficit much smaller. Ryan’s plan with its famous magic asterisks, vast tax cuts for the rich, and slowing the economy way down by further impoverishing the middle class, would lead to much greater debt long term than the Democratic plan. At least, according to the CBO and those who use actual numbers. For the rainbow-unicorn hand-wavers on the right, numbers are all traitors to the glorious cause.
