That’s a good point… many people get caught up in who does what… but a good system, most importantly, having two people who both go into it with the supportive teamwork approach seems to go a long way!….

Nothing can replace faith. It is a relationshipwith God. Without Him, nothing. Just a void in your soul. Protect your relationship with God. Don’t let nothing take it. It is your relationship that Satan is after. He is working. To separate you from God, so he can destroy you.

Toni is realizing that they’ve never really talked about their life together at all. I think she may have a lot of reconsidering to do about this engagement, especially whether her marriage proposal was in fact due more nearly to seeing Dirk and Mrs. Dirk than it was to any good reasons for believing that she would have a happy life together with Brad.

Brad needs to learn Toni’s sense of humor a bit better – he would have picked up on it as her (work) partner, but as a (life) partner it’s a bit different.

Toni needs to learn that while the house may be hers, it’s not just her taste in decorating. I don’t think she’s too ‘girly’ but they need to do things like furniture shopping and deciding what color to paint the walls together.

They need to set up some sort of division of labor, not to mention the household finances – joint checking account to pay the mortgage, the water, the gas and other bills?

If Brad’s serious about doing all the chores (something women have been doing (by necessity) for millennium) that also gives him the right to NOT do them. If she complains (seriously) about how he does something (like the laundry – especially pleats) that means that SHE gets to do them ‘properly’ or they don’t get done. It worked that way in my marriage – my husband didn’t like it? He got to do it. Now my ‘wife’ doesn’t like the way I iron her skirts? She does ALL the ironing – I’ll still do the laundry as part of my ‘wifely duties’, but she irons both my skirts and hers!

The future: Toni irons her own shirts. Brad irons his own shirts. Toni does the laundry because Brad always forgets to add the fabric softener sheet to the dryer. Toni washes the dishes because Brad doesn’t. Toni and Brad take care of their owns cars because I can’t imagine Toni not taking care of her own car. Toni takes care of the front yard. Brad takes care of the back yard except when Toni sees that Brad leaves twigs on the ground after pruning. Then she picks up the sticks. Brad thinks shopping at Sams and Costco is relaxing, so he buys two huge bags of carrots, two huge flats of eggs and enough fruit to feed an army. He pushes the older stuff into the back of the refridgerator and piles the fruit on top of the older fruit. Toni keeps the bathrooms clean because Brad doesn’t. Toni takes care of the floors because Brad doesn’t. Toni dusts and washes the walls inside and out because Brad doesn’t. Toni finally refuses to take out the trash, so Brad is forced to do it or live in a smelly house. However, Brad and Toni stay together because somewhere along the line they have created a family of 1.7 children who they love and enjoy raising together, and they love each other.

It looks like I missed an interesting discussion yesterday.

It always amuses me somewhat to hear people claim that there is no God. They insist that it is neither rational, nor logical to believe in God. Yet what evidence do they have that He does not exist? None, none whatsoever.

It usually boils down to the fact that they have never seen Him, so therefore He cannot exist. Tell that to the astrophysicists who are trying to come to grips with the fact that the majority of matter in the universe is matter that we cannot see or detect and can pass right through all the matter that we can see, yet they know for a certainty that it is there.

What evidence is there of a God? The whole of creation speaks to a God. Life itself speaks to a God. And if that is not enough, we have eye-witness accounts of people who have seen and/or talked with God.

The evidence is almost completely on the side of the existence of God. However, the non-believers chose to ignore it and rationalize it away. That is their privilege — their “God-given right”, to be sure. I am not about to try to take it away from them.

Brad may try to do the chores, but they won’t be up to Toni’s standards. He will think he did some chore and Toni will not be satisfied with his lower, dirtier standards. The person with less tolerance for dirt and clutter ends up doing the cleaning and chores, usually the woman.

Apparently, someone who uses the name ‘Dry’ posted something on the Pooch Cafe site that the monitor objected to, and ‘Dry’ has been banned. A lot of those who post to that site have been trying to get ‘Dry’ reinstated. This message may also be yanked, but, if not, this is the most info I have been able to get.

I’m sure you know this, but there are a lot of Moms who call their husband ‘Daddy’ when the kids are around, so the kids won’t get the idea that they can call their father by his first name, or ‘honey’ or whatever. And then the name ‘Daddy’ just seems easier and easier, even after the kids have grown. Not meant as anything creepy….

The optimistic approach is Toni’s words meaning ‘I would do all the chores so long as I got to be with you.’ That is, she’s offering the same “I’d do everything for you” he just offered.

There is an ancient analogy. Relationships are like a bowl full of candy. In a one night stand scenario, both partners take, nobody fills, so the bowl empties and they get gone.

In a taken advantage of scenario, one partner fills, one partner takes, and eventually the filler gets tired of getting nothing return, and leaves.

In a marriage that actually works, both partners fill. Hence, the bowl is always overflowing, and the candy lasts till death do us part.

As such, in the optimistic idea (Toni is also offering to do everything) we have two fillers, which is what works.
