I think Rob sees humor in the situation and portrays it well…and it’s the FDA’s (NOT Obama’s) nascent policy to ban an ‘ingredient’ in commercial food products that is determined detrimental to human health and unnecessary in the products we buy. We’ll get “healthier” donuts ! …WHOOOPEEEEE !!!
(I love the cartoon) Come on, one can’t make their own decisions about not eating hydrogenated fats; it’s ubiquitous because it’s great for the food industry business. However, it’s been proven to be bad for public health. I’m not sure what toggled your extreme views, but I’m pretty certain your opinion of the (liberal) health science is not so high either (good fats / bad fats is what has complicated the science). What does the food industry care about the public’s health? They don’t and won’t unless forced, just look around at today’s politics. The unfortunate thing is that big food business has already replace hydrogenated fats with something equally distressing, Interesterified Fat is worse than hydrogenated fats, but unfortunately now it is unregulated and is in just about everything labeled trans-fat free. It will never self-regulate. Hopefully bad fats can be called out quickly for what they are based on what laws are in place, so add another layer to the law…I feel your pain. BTW, I heard the same rant about outlawing public secondhand smoke and because of that law I can now bowl and play music in clubs, smoke free. Same difference; public’s health, ubiquitous nuisance.
