Zimmerman busted again, for threatening his girlfriend with a weapon this time. At least he didn’t shoot her.

So the NRA is the one shooting kids in Chicago, Detroit, New Orleans and all the other scummy Democrat controlled cities?

We’ve gotten to the point where mass shooting are no longer news because they happen with such regularity. The massacre of 6 and 7 year old students at Sandy Hook should have been a wake up call. However the politics around guns continues to be dominated by crazy people and the industry that has risen up to exploit them.

I’ll take that to mean you’re part of the “They’re going to take away my guns!” crowd. The Second Amendment refers to the right of the State to maintain a militia, not the average citizen to own fully automatic weapons solely designed to kill as many humans as possible in the shortest amount of time possible.

Gun safety when young is so important. A long time gun handler had up to 5 safety features when handling guns. When a couple of features failed, the other features saved people. Still, mental health of anyone is important, and medical attention must be improved. Pro-gun comments have been excellent. One thing missing in the News and comments is the list (NRA magazine) of people saved by people who had access to guns. Gun shows and their parking lots should be required to have the same rules as brick and mortar stores.

i’m just wondering on how having a gun equals freedom? on how having a gun makes a person an elite call of duty spec ops soldier? on why does shooting an elephant in the face makes one courageous? or, killing any animal(moose, deer, squirrel, pheasant, duck, quail, lion, rhino, buffalo, turkey, boar) and not eating the its flesh more civilized?

And let’s be very clear here: The NRA does NOT even represent the views of most of its members, who by a significant majority prefer stricter gun control, as do most Americans. It is representing the gun industry. The NRA has taken the rather ludicrous stand that it is better to let terrorists and criminals have free access to high-powered weaponry than it is to have ANY restrictions at all. This bizarre stand, which was not true of the NRA even 30 years ago, is based on a unique and absolutist view of the Second Amendment that parallels no other amendment. If you had a similar view of the First Amendment, you could have orgies in the street or shout “fire!” in a crowded theater.

Great idea! So we need to control who is responsible enough to have a gun and who should not be allowed one. That may mean taking guns away from some who have a whole arsenal in their basement!

Years ago, my father joined the NRA because he had inherited a .38 police revolver from his father-in-law, and he wanted to know more about gun safety and care. I think most MEMBERS of the NRA fall into this category, as well.

More recently, however, the NRA is not about gun owner rights or safety training. It has become nothing more than a lobby to increase the profits of the gun manufacturers. My father would not have remained in this organization, as it has now become.

To those on this blog, who are so obsessed with fear about your own government: What happened during your nurturing years to have caused you to have such fear? Why do you allow yourselves to be so easily misled by big corporations?

I get the feeling that some of you would eat sewage if someone, whom you saw as an authority figure, told you it would taste good.

As some of you here like to say: Prove me wrong!

I support the 2nd Amendment. However, I don’t believe anyone outside of military & law enforcement should have fully automated high round rifles. Extremists say if we start banning these types of weapons it’s a slippery slope towards total gun bans. But I say allowing these weapons is a slippery slope in the other direction, allowing anyone to have rocket launchers, flame throwers, guided missles, etc. Gun ownership comes with responsibility — which I believe most gun owners have — but there are too many who won’t be reasonable. That is why “well-regulated” is also in the 2nd Amendment.

Under the Articles of Confederation, the STATES held the weaponry, in armories, and would distribute to the militia as needed. The logistics of the day showed that the milia couldn’t respond quickly enough to secure weapons and “form up” to repel an invasion. NOTE: INVASION!, not shooting your neighbor, or his dog in “self defense”.

The Constitution revised this policy, so that like Switzerland, the REGULATED possession of “arms” by the populace in the militia would allow for more “rapid response”, to AN INVASION of the country. It was far more about logistics, than “individual rights”.

NOTE: even the CONSERVATIVES on the SCOTUS sated that while (Heller vs D.C.) individuals DO have a right to posses “arms”, the STATE (meaning states or the feds) DO have the right, and OBLIGATION to REGULATE those arms, and who has them. The tax on automatic weapons is just one aspect of that regulation. BTW, my nephew owns two fully automatic weapons, and they are NOT ILLEGAL to own.

His life was destroyed by a dishonest media. Had they a bit of integrity when reporting the incident, Zimmerman may have never reappeared in the news. I have no idea what kind of stresses were put on him because they just couldn’t resist the urge to call him a “white hispanic” just to play the race card for ratings. .BTW, Rob, Hitler would LOVE this cartoon.

It has been those liberals/progressives/Democrats who have pushed longer than any group for more mental health care in the country and have been repulsed in their efforts to obtain better mental health care for all by GUESS WHO?

Their symbol is a large, long snouted, greyish pachyderm.

Pirate: that was obvious from the Martin case, as well as his other history. That would of course include his “wife’s” view. Which, interestng the only way could find him to serve him divorce papers was to catch him while he was in jail, for assaulting yet another “violent, agressive, big, mean, female”.

Only the ignorant associate the NRA with gun violence. Take away the NRA, empower stricter gun laws and watch the violence remain. Maybe all the people coming up with this nonsense would be better served to research the actual root of violence, gun or other and actually do something about it instead of crying about it.
