It was the GOP that destroyed the filibuster, by abusing it to the point of making America fail. Filibustering a chief of defense during wartime? Really? They had been told many times that they should stick to their gentlemen’s agreement to keep it to “extraordinary” circumstances, and failed to do so.
“Advise and consent” didn’t specify 60% approval, or any percentage, or even a “majority” in fact, that was created by “Senate rules”, which are typically revised, like in the House, with each new Congress.
If you want a real “bomb”, get rid of the electoral college, and go for a simple majority of the popular vote.
“Bomb” number two, reinstate the “fairness doctrine” on publicly held radio and television transmissions regarding “political content”. Despite right-wing claims, that would increase liberal access to the media by at least 50-60% of broadcast time over what they currently get.
It was the Republican stated determination to filibuster EVERY nomination, regardless of the nominee’s qualifications, that destroyed the Senate. The Dems acted to save it.
Hardly….when the GOP is ready to rejoin America…get back to us. And my suggestion is that the next Faux News watcher who yells about ‘socialism’ should really sign up for an 8th grade Civics class and see if they can pass even one of the semester tests.

His point is the congressmen who opposed didn’t use the so-called painless filibuster to try to get their way.

Harry Reid only believes in the Constitution when it suits his political party. He is a terrible human being.
