Health coverage: More coverage lost under Obamacare than any that have signed up for it.Food stamps: Cut because of Obama’s stimulus ended automatically.Unemployment benefits: 99 months of unemployment benefits weren’t good enough for you? So much for those shovel ready jobs that Obama joked about not being so shovel ready.

    ‘Are there no prisons?”

‘Plenty of prisons,’ said the gentleman, laying down the pen again.’And the Union workhouses.’ demanded Scrooge. ‘Are they still in operation?’ ‘Both very busy, sir.’ ‘Oh. I was afraid, from what you said at first, that something had occurred to stop them in their useful course,’ said Scrooge. ‘I’m very glad to hear it.’ ‘Under the impression that they scarcely furnish Christian cheer of mind or body to the multitude,’ returned the gentleman, ‘a few of us are endeavouring to raise a fund to buy the Poor some meat and drink, and means of warmth. We choose this time, because it is a time, of all others, when Want is keenly felt, and Abundance rejoices. What shall I put you down for?’ ‘Nothing!’ Scrooge replied. ‘You wish to be anonymous?’ ‘I wish to be left alone,’ said Scrooge. ‘Since you ask me what I wish, gentlemen, that is my answer. I don’t make merry myself at Christmas and I can’t afford to make idle people merry. I help to support the establishments I have mentioned-they cost enough; and those who are badly off must go there.’ ‘Many can’t go there; and many would rather die.’ ‘If they would rather die,’ said Scrooge, ‘they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population.”

A friend of mine is a doctor in private practice who has to buy his health insurance in the private market. He was finally, after considerable trouble, able to sign up for new coverage. It will cost him half as much as his old coverage. He calls the ACA “a lifesaver.” The experience of others has been different. Those who have had the hardest time are those who live in states which refused to play their part and keep the insurance marketplace under state oversight, leaving the Federal government to do it for then. Oddly enough, they are not the states that usually prefer Federal power over state rights.

Maybe giving even more tax breaks to the rich and subsidies to corporations will help him find a job. It didn’t do any good yet, but maybe this round of tax cuts will be different. If not, maybe the next round of tax cuts will be different. If not, maybe….

“a doctor in private practice (income in the $250,000+ range)”

Your assumption shows your ignorance of what the insurance industry has done to the income of doctors in this country. Very few doctors are capable of making that kind of income (legitimately) any more, and those are top-level specialists who are so few that insurance has to pay more.

You owe Doughfoot an apology for calling him/her a liar. In the meantime, I respectfully suggest that you don’t believe everything you think.

Where are the jobs? Congress has been a GOP subsidy for over a thousand days now. There were supposed to be jobs! Maybe they aren’t vetoing hard enough.

Tommy should wake up along with all of you socialists and try to discover where all those trillion of dollars are coming from! The economic engine that can supply that kind of money is capitalism and it has been assaulted by this administration to such and extent is in running slower an slower next stop a Detroit fate for the US ofA.

Honestly. Shameless wingnut trolls are shameless. Not even old Scrooge can shame them. Happy Holidays!

The government has decided to hire the so-called best and brightest to fix the web site. The Repubs said it should have been left to the private sector to design the site.Oregon has been unable to sign ANYONE up. Their site was designed by Oracle.
