UC Davis Medical School survey (check out Harper’s Index for January) found that 55% of RETAIL GUN DEALERS thought it’s too easy for criminals to get guns in the U.S..
My nephew has retail sales gun license, and two automatic weapons with proper documentation. He’s careful who he transfers firearms to, and while definitely “pro-gun” is concerned about who can get guns. It is NOT just the “mental cases” that make news with the mass shootings.
BTW, gang bangers MUCH prefer concealable pistols, especially with high capacity magazines, over the much maligned and misnamed “assault rifles”, which ARE indeed used in very few crimes as a part of the statistic. It’s control of those handguns that needs addressing, especially as the last thing you need to “defend yourself” against an “oppressive” government, or an invasion is a pistol! Which, I’ll give you an AK -47 AND an AR-15, and take my long rifle at 1,000 yards, bold action no less, and see who walks off the “field”.
The NRA needs to go back to being a RIFLE association, and spend less time defending short barrel pistols, and short “rifles” (those “assault rifles”) with high capacity magazines.
^Note: NIxon and Kissenger kept Viet Nam going longer than LBJ ran it. Ike actually got us involved covertly, leading to LBJ’s , true enough, total screwup with the Tonkin lie. You might try reading “A Bright Shining Lie”, it was far from being just “liberals”.
How do you account for suffering yourself and make your screen name a total lie?

If all the shootings, not just in schools, made as much news, maybe folks would tire of the reality, like they did Viet Nam?
