Not sure how often in came up in these strips, but I always loved that jumping TV.

I’ve been reading the Calvin and Hobbes strips from the beginning and in the early strips, Calvin’s TV rested firmly on the stand. I am curious about when the TV started jumping around.

Careful Calvin, in the litigious times in which we live Dad may very well sue you. Such a suit would not be any more frivolous than some that have been filed recently.

Maybe the family got the TV from Bloom County which would chase Opus around telling him to order 1,000 turnip twaddlers.

I used to love Walter Cronkite’s 20th Century. I was fascinated by the war footage and realizing it was only a few years before I was born.

What’s wrong with wanting it in both mediums?

Bah, if it was bad then its even worse now. So many channels but nothing on. Rednecks,Ghosthunters,Pawnshops and Stupid Skateboarders at every turn.

I have a very good grasp of things thank you. You’re right,out of the thousands of channels and ten-thousands of shows there are maybe choice 20 or 30 that are actually intelligent and artistic. The problem is that TV executives show what sells, and at the present state of our culture what sells is the vulgar and stupid.

But anyway, out of curiosity, which history/science/culture shows do you have in mind?

TV is going downhill with the repeated programmes practically every day.
