I hope that Tracy will take up the case before Vitamin gets fed to Lena!

Well, Mary knows her “Captain Video” history! Vitamin really wants to believe that he is in the film clip, so I’m sure he is easy to convince, as were the previous marks of the brother/sister team.

Vitamin is right handed, not left handed like the actor in the movie scene.

Mary has previously said she knew Miles Mycroft from summer stock, so it should not be a surprise that she recognizes him. Nor should it surprise that the vain old thespian thinks he’s seeing himself when he wants to see himself and has been told that he’s in the clip.I think Detective Tracy will follow up on what Mary Perkins has told him. The only question is, how quickly will the MCU act to stop the scam (and the murders they will find go along with it)?

From what I understand, Joe & Mike have the copyrights to Leonard Starr material. This means that Mary and Annie could play major parts in this continuing story line. Popeye won’t be in the public domain til 2025 so we didn’t really see him but only hints of his presence…..I love this stuff…

Good chilly morning to all the snarkers out there! Are we all here?

Without Mary, it looks like Vitamin might be up a tree. She oughta replace Liz(z).

@abdullahbaba999 – actually it’s the Tribune (technically, the Tribune’s comic syndicate) that controls the rights to OnStage, same as with Gasoline Alley and Little Orphan Annie. Characters who’ve made wink-and-a-nod cameos have been controlled by other syndicators.

The detective in DT will find something that will lead to the murder of at least one of Silver & Sprocket N’s victims. I wonder what (in the real world) they would do with their pet? I do not really know, but I saw it on TV and they said when a wild animal like a bear, a wild cat or any other predator type gets human blood that is what they want.

whoever reads this remember that I am like my best friends dog (Zuce) I will not trouble anyone until they pick & jab.

there are several real cool commentators that I like to see what they have to say about the DT story line, but if I have to defend myself there are other places to read DT. This just happens to be the best place.

Love the TV history in today’s strip! I wonder if anything from the Dumont Network is still out there somewhere?

Great strip today – answering questions readers must have if they aren’t familiar with the early days of TV (and the possibility of Mary being wrong). And I really like the “black and white” last panel – the GoComics colorist has really stepped up!

FYI: WDXI is AM 1310 and FM 103.1 in Jackson, Tennessee. AM 1310 is (conservative) talk radio, while the sister station is known as KOOL 103..Kind of like Denver’s KXKL on FM 105.1, known as KOOL 105. Both stations seem to use the logo of the letters KOOL with sunglasses over the OO.

I remember the Cartoon but I was thinking there was a live action Dick Tracy from the 50’s as well with the same actor from the MoviesYou are correct, there was such a show. I did not know about it until a few days ago, when one of the commenters here very kindly posted a link to the shows, which are available on You Tube. Go back a few days to when this strip first started to talk about old TV shows, and you should be able to find the link .

Gweedo: You listen to KOOL 105? Are you here in Denver? Or do you stream it over the Internet?

@tsull & @avenger & GweedoThe “useless interlude” for the Tracy TV show turned up as Rikki’s jamming image in the Abner episode. The Abner episode was part of the Black Hearts story, not a stand-alone. You might have noticed it established 4 things for future stories: B-B Eyes has signed on with the Black Hearts; the Apparatus’s ranks are notably thinned; Abner doesn’t work alone (making for his escapes); and most importantly – Tracy has never defeated Abner without help. And if you say this story is boring – after someone is murdered and fed to a hyena – nothing’s going to please you.

Guess I’ll jump in on the hyena frenzy: tsull2121: From your postage stamp, I’m going to guess that the last story you liked was Sparkle and Junior’s wedding! Anything else that has happened in this strip has either sent you in a tizzy (Moon Maid) or just bores you to death..At least, Still Da Man! is entertaining!

According to IMDB there was a low budget live action show in the early 50’s from ABC with Ralph Byrd, who play Tracy in the films.
