Used to go the local five and dime with my grandparents all the time. Don’t remember many things that actually cost a nickel, though. It was more like the dime and quarter by then. Wow, I’m always shocked to remember how much you could buy with a single dollar just 35 years ago. And then I remember what minimum wage was 20 and 25 years ago…

We didn’t have a five ’n dime in our town, just the local drug store. I sure wish still had all those comic books though.

I started reading Comic Books when they were 12¢ each. My dollar allowance got me 4 comics, a soda and a single dip ice cream cone.

I sold newspapers on the street until Mom heard me comment the smoke in the bars didn’t bother me. $igh, bad move on my part. :-)
