Everywhere!By my chair, by the bed, in the bathroom…. my favorite is Webster’s Collegiate … there’s one from the late 1920’s, one from the mid 60’s, a “new” one from I think 1995….

American Heritage from the 70’s — nice illustrations, lousy, weak binding…Random House, late 1990’s… not that great…a couple of pretty useless off-brand paperbacks that showed up somehow…

Plus French and Spanish…. But I admit that if I’m near my computer or my (smart) phone, I usually try Google first….unless I’m after the etymology, for which the dictionary is sometimes better.

Yup. Several of them. My favorite is one that belonged to my dad. It’s about 4 inches thick, and contains a regular dictionary, a medical dictionary, foreign words and phrases, and a business manual for writing letters. He dropped out of school to join the US Navy, and this helped him advance through the ranks.

several but I use online dictionaries more. If I can’t spell the word how can I use a book dictionary to verify the spelling? At least the computer auto correct gives me a chance.

Of course I do. I’m 56, and have never been able to throw away a book.

Yes. It is about a foot thick and was handed down from my wife’s mother who got it from her mother.

Yes, I have some. It’s sacrilegious to throw away a dictionary – isn’t it?

Yes, one of those 10 pound jobs – figure my granddaughter will think it amusing when she is old enough to ask

I have one in the bird room storage along with many old programing books and disks, and my old engineering books and City Codes. The only ones I’ve used in the last 5 years are the translating dictionaries (French, Italian and yes, even Spanish).

I have 3. One from the 90’s that I bought for college, one large print version for the boy and a pocket edition I carry in my purse.
