Hmmm…some kind of wedding plans…this is going to be a sticky wicket… =-O

Well, it looks like they’ve got the “romance” part down…… now if only they can get the “work” and “practical” parts, too…. – Hopefully it will be some Italian food. Or some Indian. Or some Thai! Mmmm!….That’ll- Oh, yeah…. It’s 2D food…. Plus, it’s not for me, anyway….

Usually its the Guy who wants something small…but Greg has Brad saying he wants a big wedding. But, then, their relationship (Brad and Toni’s) has been nonconformist. Brad being the romantic and Toni being the practical. Makes life interesting… ;)

One reason for it being the other way around, is that Toni is from the “smaller(ish)” family, Brad is from the “bigger” family. -Also, there is the fact that Toni is more used to a more private atmosphere, due in part to the smaller size. The DeGroots are a bit larger, and fairly more stable, on the total whole, and are used to more “openness” and “sharing (letting everybody in on stuff)”….

Perhaps some curry fajitas with pesto sauce… ^

Actually, some Indian Tacos sound good… either Curry Chicken, or Coconut Chicken in a fajita or taco shell, paneer and tomatoes… Da!…

Probably not too different from most engaged couples, really. There are more unorganized people in the world then people who have everything planned.

Is there any reason you feel it nessasary to pick on a mentally challenged person? Seriously.

Look at Toni’s face in panel 4, I think she had some “work” done. Botox?

Toni should do what Mary did in “About Time” to force Brad into making these wedding decisions (I won’t spoil what she did for those who haven’t seen the movie, plus the fact for the younger people who read these messages it’s not kid-friendly).

Or they could have a small, private wedding ceremony and a big reception. They each get what they want.

My wife and I must be the odd ones out. We both nailed the plans down in abt 3 months. This planning session was a failure to launch..

Here’s a tip: to get read, write like a cartoonist. Terse. To the point.

-OMG… You need to be careful about attracting the attention of vengeful spirits….

-The first question is usually “Where to have the wedding?”-I thought it would be ’WHEN to have the wedding?

A huge wedding on two firefighter’s salaries? Reality will set in with Brad. Frank and Nancy might contribute some, but Toni’s an orphan. So who will be paying for the wedding?

A while back, TJ indicated that their caterer decision is already made. What concoction will he dream up? Everyone will have gastroenteritis after the reception. Brad and Toni will spend their wedding night in the emergency room!

Average firefigher salaries in California ranged from $33,000 to $40,000. Firefigher paramedics could get as much as $55,000 in some places. -Not terrible, but considering that this is a job where your life is at risk, not as much as it could be.

How do they supporting parents feel about Brad’s wedding plans?

Maybe Toni doesn’t want a lot of people to see who she is marrying. Brad wants everyone he knows to see who he is getting married to. Neither one seems very eager to get married.

Ah yes the three rings of marriage; first comes the engagement ring; then comes the wedding ring, last comes the suffering.

Brad probably knows his mom wants a huge wedding for her son.

Huge weddings are a scam.

Since it’s been suggested that there will be drama about Brad and Toni’s wedding, I’m figuring there will be a lot of disagreement about whether the wedding will be huge, manageable or small. And ultimately, the two WILL probably elope!

Good. They have the same sense of humor. Everything else will work itself out.

Tas, you’re right— traditionally the bride’s parents would be comandeering the wedding. But in this case, I remember that their parents were killed in a car wreck when Toni & Josh were just teens.

My advice, for what it’s worth, have a small wedding.If you really want to invite your 6000 or so facebook friends and relatives, invite them to the reception. No gifts, BYOB.I mean, come on. What’s the point of going into the debt for the rest of your life? Some marriages don’t even last as long as it takes to pay for it!

My wife and met on a Saturday, she moved in to my place the next week. (Kids, don’t try this at home. I was 42, she was 38. We knew what we wanted). One month later, we ‘eloped’ with about 12 people there. Our wedding was 3 months later, which was good because our minister missed our wedding. A friend, actor who was playing a minister on TV, married us.

Always get married before the wedding. It completely relaxes you.

-The mystery will be during the dinner, who will throw the first punch-Why does a punch have to be thrown at all? Couldn’t the dinner just be a nice, friendly family dinner to get to know each other?

I wanted small, hubby wanted big. He wanted the big party, the bride in the wedding dress, (I wanted a nice tea length), all the fru-fru. Then he got deployed to Alaska for 2 months, which turned into 3 months. Who had to make all the decisions without his input?? Who came home a month before the wedding, then left again for 2 weeks for an Air Force conference?? Who came home the week before, just in time to get the license, attend the last counseling session at our church, etc., etc. All the fun stuff. Don’t believe everything you hear! 7th anniversary, coming up in May, oh yeah, he picked the day because it was close to His birthday…so he wouldn’t forget the date. LOL!!!

I just joined this! Even though I quite taking the paper when our local one (biggest city in the state) changed to 3 days a week and more like USA Today rather than much local. I still like the comics and Luann has always been a favorite! And yes, I’m an old blind lady (FYI: 70 and high partial legally blind for 10 year). I’ve been reading the comments for awhile, and with Brad and Toni back in the picture, I’m going to share a poem I wrote about them. I hope you all enjoy it.

I wrote this, using a few lines from the comic. You’ll recognize T.J., et al.

AFRAID TO TAKE A CHANCE

He thought he wasn’t good enough,So his hands in his pockets he shoved.He was afraid to make a commitment,Though he dated a girl that he loved.

He thought she only liked himBecause he saved her life one time.He guessed her feeling was heartfelt,But he was afraid it was only short time.

He’d seen her with another,Though that was a year ago.He was afraid she wanted “manly”,And that he was a bit soft and slow.

He thought that if he kissed her,That she might turn away.He was afraid that she’d reject him,Though she hinted every day.

He questioned their emotions.They worked together most days.He was afraid it was only closeness,That caused him to feel that way.

I love poetry (the rhyming kind). Thanks for those posts! Off Luann subject, but I wrote a poem called “Black and White” about losing one’s sight, and when colors fade. It got raves a few years ago at the American Council of the Blind.

Isn’t it supposed to be stereotypical that it’s the bride who wants the biggest wedding possible?Anyway, my main question is “when” the wedding will take place. My guess is that it might occur somewhat after Luann’s early college freshman experience.

I was hoping that this week would be about the events leading up to Prom, but the Brad & Toni saga can be much more compelling…

But then, what if Brad & Toni want to get married this summer? I don’t mind— most of my prognostications have never been accurate!

When, where, and “How big” have to be answered by the individual couple. (Expense is another issue, adding it’s own complexity.) Maybe the bride usually wants a big wedding, but the groom can have his own issues in that regard. My son-in-law had been best man in six weddings—he was the one who pushed for a big one!!

Is this a reference to the speculation that the mysterious shadow behind the couch is Gunther? In this literary critic’s mind, it is only an absence of light. If Gunther ever saw three teenage girls in nightgowns, he would be “scared stiff!”

So, in effect, the person is his own “Big Brother”…

Well, I was ten away…thought for sure today’s comic would generate more than 150… Well, one never knows! =-O
