Languages sure come up with the oddest translatable (and non-translatable) words. I wonder how did Balmat and Paccard survived the cold on Blanc.

Same idea, but cracked.com and other websites translate the German word to “A face badly in need of a fist”. I need to study my German more.

Then again, I learned the word “Zeigarnikfrustration” – the the granting sense of incompleteness knowing there is a partially eaten snack lying around somewhere. Pardon me, but I am off on a hunt…..

The French expression is “face à claques.”

“’Let’s take him,’ Lo would often plead, rubbing her knees together in a way she had, as some particularly disgusting pollex, some man of my age and shoulder breadth, with the face a claques of an unemployed actor, walked backwards, practically in the path of our car.” — “Lolita”

After 9/11/2001, there were no airplanes flying, and my job was near an air force base – with no planes flying. It seemed really odd.

The only German word I’ve been taught in class that means “slap” is “Ohrfeige” (box on the ear).

Bawana, is that02:00Z or local? Don’t forget there are 4 times zones in the lower 48. Most aviation nav products expire/become effective at 09:00Z. Depending on time of year and time zone that’s between 01:00 and 05:00 local.
