That beetle went like a bullitt.

I had a 69 Beetle. Wrapped it around a tree trying to be Steve McQueen.

if you watch the chase scene, you’ll see a green VW shown countless times in numerous shots. You can see the VW on the left of the Dodge Challenger. so maybe Gray was driving THAT VW

I did all those things with a ’71 Beetle.

I had 3 Mustangs. A 64 1/2, a 68 and a 74. Loved ’em all.

’68? I split the difference with a canary-yellow Karmann Ghia convertible.

I had a neighbor who worked for Ford (made in Texas by Texans days) when the Mustang first came out. He offered to let me sit in it. I cut my head open on the vent window getting in. Never did see the appeal, and got a ’57 Beetle for my first car.
