Leslie Gore – How well I remember being pre-teen & sitting with the girl across the street listening to (over & over again), “It’s My Party and I’ll Cry If I Want To”, followed by, “Judy’s Turn to Cry”! But, for all us comic nerds, she appeared as one of Catwoman’s “henchpeople” on the Batman TV show in the ’60’s!

The way this story has gone, it reminds me of Arlo Guthrie..It’s been a few weeks since Jimmy – and railroads – were originally mentioned. And I was wondering whether we’d ever get back to that..Among other things, if I recall, Jimmy has some kind of fatal disease. And, among other things, I was wondering just what that disease was..Or if Jim was going to use this strip to back a cause, say research for this particular disease, or perhaps promote Make-A-Wish, the folks that provide once-in-a-lifetime experiences for those whose lifetimes are about to end….Off the wall rumor time: Jimmy isn’t Scancarelli now, is he? (Let’s hope not). But, back to Arlo Guthrie. Well into his monologue, he mentions Alice, and he adlibs:.You remember Alice, don’t you?.There’s a song about Alice..That’s why I called this song,.Alice’s Restaurant!

The “original” Young love or at least the biggest hit in the 50s was sung by Tab Hunter, a movie actor of the time. Sunny James, a country singer, had it out, too. Ms Gore came much later. In those days, many performers would cover a song with some success.
