Gramma Evie: Did you say we can go see ELEPHANTS, Arnold?? Arnold: Addo Elephant Park is in Eastern Cape, a whole different part of South Africa. SOUTH AFRICA Arnold: If we drive about 10 hours, we get to a landscape called Bushveld...that's where we can see elephants. If we KEEP GOING, we end up in the tropics on the Indian Ocean. Gramma Evie: And if we keep going after that? Arnold: You might never go home.

10 Hours!…this going to be an overnight trip, right?! Are you tenting or staying in a safari hotel? What about those houses you’re supposed to be building?! I guess its OK for you to sit around and look at each other all day, huh?! Nice… ;)

Best to stay in Port Elizabeth if you wish to see Addo park, The locals will discourage you as you must drive past vast shanty towns of the poorest SA’s.

@annette The hotel staff did not want us to see the thousands living in cardboard and tin shanties on the edge of a burning trash dump. Miles of it on the road to Addo. They kept lying and saying “nothing to see there” “don’t waste the day” etc. Of course it was wonderful and worth it. BTW there is NO poverty in the USA by comparison. The rich there are embarrassed ostriches.
