I never really learned to read music. I have learned to play some simple things on the piano (Fur Elise) but I prefer to leave the music to those who do it better. Even my singing is not as it once was (at 76 my voice has lost range and tone).
I’ll stick to other arts (painting, sewing, cooking, stained glass, lapidary, ceramics etc).
I used to play the trumpet and recorder, but no longer. I have a good singing voice, which I inherited from my mother. She and her sisters used to be in a group much like the Andrews Sisters. My dad couldn’t carry a tune.
Played the clarinet in High School (too long ago). Taught myself a little saxophone and took piano a couple of semesters in college. Sadly, no longer play any of them. My singing is best confined to the shower and the car (if I’m alone).
Stand-up bass. (I’m 5’ tall.) Hubby plays guitar, banjo, piano, a little harmonica and mountain dulcimer. He could play the bass better than me, but he can only play one instrument at a time, so I do the best I can.
I always wanted to, but we couldn’t afford it when I was a kid. I’ve always dreamed of playing the violin. They make such beautiful music. I still haven’t given up, but I’m too busy to learn right now. When I’m not so busy, I’m afraid I’ll be too old to learn to read the music. I only sing when I’m alone. It was pointed out to me at a young age that my voice isn’t up to par. I’m one heck of a yeller though. Does that count? ;-)

If I were the punk’s uncle, I’d go for mouth harp.

I was surprised Peter even asked how much he needed.
I can think of a LOT of things that kid needs… and they don’t come out of a wallet.
Meanwhile, Tony would like to know:“Do you play a musical instrument?”

I sing well, but have never been able to play any instrument. I really want to learn how to play harmonica.
Slide whistle is not that easy….
