Once Newspapers had to cut space, the full story with both angles was lost. That was their advantage…Details….In the new short versions of the newspaper, all you get is blurbs and reactions about what you saw on TV yesterday….

I believe it was in 1993 that recently elected Veep Al Gore suggested, “Why not turn off the TV and go for a walk?” @somebody short, thanks.

Faux News…It is incumbent upon the single outlier to take responsibility for the entire herd and provide a better example, or at least to draw the attention of the local predators while the remainder of the herd huddles in their sea of mediocre commonality. ???

The internet and social media do a good job of escalating that anger.

I still subscribe to the paper just to read the comics section and have a printed version of the Sudoku, crossword, Jumble and Cryptoquip to work out. Other than that, I don’t actually read it.

RWJAMES, point well taken. The newspaper I used to read, The Detroit Free Press, (a great paper in it’s day) was founded originally as the Democratic Free Press. But I wasn’t thinking about politics, I was thinking of in depth coverage of news stories.

That’s why I don’t have anything to do with most media. I’d like to learn about the world and try to improve it, and to do that you need to be informed. News networks stopped doing that long ago. MSNBC first, then ABC, then Fox, then….

“Fox “News” the mouth piece of the Reich Wing. That is its sole function.”…According to Whacky Podium, (even more official and more trustworthy than Wikipedia), Fox News, the sole source of “conservative” views expressed in television media, was founded in 1914 by conservative W.A.S.P. partisans whose sole intent was to destroy the world by invoking global wars, succeeding twice while working closely with Germany. FOX is the one voice responsible for the decline of the United States in terms of racial and social equity, education and the economy. FOX caused all the wars in the twentieth century, travelled back in time to shoot Lincoln in an attempt to undo abolition, and rode Jimmy Carter out of office by its harsh and unfair criticism of the politicking, policies and programs that FOX itself had created, but then blamed on every Democrat Presidential administration and Congress. When FOX could no longer work in secret, it began broadcasting and contaminating the public consciousness in 1996, resulting in an increase in global terrorism and eventually the events of 9/11/2001, when their anti-American message created a super cell of right-wing rednecks whose actions were then blamed on peaceful foreigners.Yes. I’ve heard that. It’s pretty amazing.

I had the same reaction when I read the editorials in our local lib rag…so I quit buying it or reading it. They even called and offered 7 days for the price of 1 but I refused. Too much aggravation.

Huffington and Puffington will not make it a more rational position. All news outlets are created to maintain a biased dialog to control public awareness. Why some people only hate the one, which while claiming to be fair and balanced still overtly presents a deliberate and admittedly biased opinion, remains a mystery, as does their number, if one is to read anything from your critique.

Sorry, but newspapers are not this bastion of unbiased reporting of the news. They are just sensationalistic and lacking in facts as any other news source.
