I just re-checked the latitude and longitude listed in the letter (whew, a bit of alliteration there). 45 N by 87 W lands around Bailey’s Harbor, WI. Using the site findlatitudeandlongitude.com , it actually provided an address: 7949 Ridges Road, Baileys Harbor, WI. I wonder if there’s a philatelist in the vicinity….
The latitude and longitude interpretation is too simple an explanation. There is another interpretation to this coded message that Dick is trying to figure out.
“Will you send me an autographed picture?” So an address would be needed. No address of course but if encoded so as to bypass censors, surely they would see no point in allowing the message. Vintage stamp. Tie in to time machine?
Speaking of you ‘well enjoyed’ stories from the past, I guess you know they don’t seem to ‘exist’ on this Board anymore ! ?
Is there anyplace one can have the ENJOYMENT of reading them again ?
.
Hello Sydney. thank you for your interest in my Annie story. I placed it this morning in the Annie comments board if you or anyone else would like to read it it’s there. I am almost finished with the Annie/Tracy crossover I started in 2010 and will post it very soon.
Perhaps Tracy can use Diet’s “Project Blue Image” to go back in time when Annie was at 45Nx87 and rescue her then, and bring her back to the present, still as a little girl …..
Wow, you guys are good. Washington Island (here’s a map) seems like the perfect solution at 45.372123 degrees north and 86.897003 degrees west (rounds off to 45 and 87).
So, to summarize:- Country [and Western?] records at 87 degrees almost melted- She wishes it was 45 degrees up North- Washington Island is suggested by the George Washington stamp
It’s only a theory, but a good one. If this turns out to be true, I hope we’re not going to get a lot of complaints that the story is slow as Dick Tracy figures it out and explains it.
Diet Smith’s time travel experiment may figure into the story later, but right now, I think it’s thrown us all off. We see a 3 cent stamp and connect the two to assume the letter was sent through time.Maybe, maybe not…

when this written? Annie’s under duress and sneaking code past someone. the envelope has a “vintage” stamp, but isn’t Sparkle’s country career recent?
also, Staton & Curtis draw the Annie characters much better than the guys at “Annie” do…

If Annie wanted an autographed photo she should have sent in two Ovaltine labels.
