Everyone, that is not how you say sorry to someone.

Nate, your Gramps is not going to rent you a lake house just because you’re jealous of your friend!!

Nate, Nate, Nate…THIS IS COMPLETE ARROGANCE!

Nate, you don’t need a lake house to go swimming and if you want to visit your grandparents visit for them, not for what they have or don’t have. But do you really want to see your uncle again so soon?

NATE YOU IDIOT! I LOVE CAPS LOCK! WHOOOOOOOOOOO!

At least he didn’t use the “non-apology apology” which is all too common these days. This is when someone has done something wrong to you and when you object, they say “Gee, I’m sorry you were upset.” At first, it seems like an apology because it does have the words “I’m sorry” in it. But when you examine it more carefully, you realize that they are not saying they are sorry for having done the wrong thing, instead they are sorry that YOU are such an over sensitive person that you were upset by their perfectly reasonable action.

In other, even less smooth, words: Go get a lake house, and let me live in it.

Nate’s being his usual self and deserves that reaction. But Gramps can still be pretty cool when he wants to. It’s not that pricey to get a really nice timeshare, especially if you do your homework on the different exchange networks. Heck, forget even purchasing one. Buy a week off an owner who’s not using it, and pay less than a hotel for much better accommodations.
