And, the cake was likely a “scratch” cake, from a “receipt” box of carefully cherished recipes, or an equally cherished cookbook.
Emmy Lou’s mom knows her cakes are much better than Alvin’s mom’s cakes.
The same thing used to happen at our house if I made chocolate chip cookies.
