:-) I sold some empty bottles for a beer making project to a co-worker. My sweet heart was tired of tripping on them. My friend admitted later he’d sold them to someone else, unused, for the same reason. There’s this batch of dusty bottles moving around the country… :-)
Making wine is seemingly simple, on paper, but there are all kinds of subtle details that can’t be explained on paper, many of which will determine if you get a really great batch or a vat of vinegar.
I’ve friends who have tried this and it’s almost completely random if a batch will be good or not. You need true expertise (and possibly better equipment) to have it come out consistently good all the time, the way it usually does from professional winemakers.
To me the ultimate expression of making wine from just about anything is grappa, the Italian brandy made from what’s left of the grapes that were already pressed to make wine.
shamino. My experience has been quite different. All the batches of wine I’ve made turned out very well. Expertise seems less important than closely following the directions put on paper by someone with expertise. I recommend First Steps in Winemaking by C. J. J. Berry
Given that Arlo and Janis have a garden, they might want to follow one piece of advice in Berry’s book and several others I’ve seen, don’t try tomato wine. Can’t say personally, I took their word for it and never tried it.

Janis should know by now how easily distracted Arlo is. She’s probably distracted him herself a thousand times.

Wine is fruit based there for the sources are limited; it sounds like Arlo was looking for a group, as in 2 people, could do.

She should be lucky her husband isn’t Roger Fox. “Foxtrot” had this story arc all week.

I gave a bottle of my best to the local wine nut. He said it had a fruity bouquet with a cough syrup finish.
