My little town of Independence Ca will be celebrating the 10th annual Fruitcake Festival (Saturday Night Fruitcake Fever is this year’s theme) next weekend. The historic Lions Club building will be packed, we will be dressed for disco and the entry fee is a homemade fruitcake! We have a great MC, dancing, fruitcake and costume contests, a friendly crowd and a whole lot of small town fun.
Generally I don’t like fruitcake, but my father-in-law made THE best. Nice, moist & flavorful. He died in 1998 and I haven’t touched a fruitcake since.

My fruitcake is quite popular. I usually make 6 and am lucky if I am able to keep one for myself.
