Holly: Aunt Joan, isn't that Phil?
Joan: Where?
Holly: In the jewelry store...
Joan: Omigosh! Can you see what he's buying?
Holly: No...he's talking to the jeweler.
Phil: So...I need a battery for this watch...
Jeweler: ?
Maybe Val need a push, like Joan did with Wally. He asked Joan to marry him and she said no! Then coach Susan (an ex of Wally’s and Holly’s basketball coach) broke up with her boyfriend and made a move on Wally again. Joan saw them in Wally’s car in his driveway, called his cell phone and proposed on the spot.
Have to disagree with some of what you wrote. My husband is “Daddy” and I am “Mom” to our three children, and he and I present a united front to the girls. When we got married, this was one of the things the rector discussed with us, and even had the girls come in – alone – for one session, as they we, in a sense, marrying each other as sisters at the same time the adults were getting married as partners.

I have a bad feeling about this. Jan Eliot is retirement age. I have a feeling Phil will propose, Val will accept, and the strip will be ending.
