Only in America
Woman: The CIA tortured detailness with rectal feeding murdered guys, then gave a raise to the murderers. Threatened children. Lied to congress.
Man: Disgusting! That stuff is supposed to stay secret!
Stopped being a secret a long time ago. Interesting it was the biggest liars who got promoted under the Bush executive. Anyone who told, and insisted on, the truth, got demoted or canned. It was all about Iraq, and a family feud.
“The reason they want to have this discussion [about torture] is not to show how awesome we are […] this administration wants to have this discussion to show us how we’re not awesome […] they apologized for this country, they don’t like this country, they want us to look bad.” – Andrea Tantaros, Fox News
Read about it and cluck-cluck in dismay for a while, but it will soon be off the front page. And I’d bet if a psychic survey could be taken, most people would be glad that it happened if it even remotely protected their safe and comfortable way of life. Relatively rich compared to most of the world, we are a culture of Marie Antoinettes: Let them eat cake (through their colons).
I was not happy at the time. One is either honorable and ethical or you are not. You don’t make exceptions an torture “those who deserve it” and then attend church on Sunday morning.
I think it was the right decision to release this information. I want every CIA Spook to think twice about their actions before they commit crimes on behalf of the US. They should wonder what their family would think if they knew what was being done.
It was disgusting when Bush was doing it and it is even more disgusting to have people try to protect his delicate sensibilities. He acted like a criminal and he should be remembered that way.

This John Locke fellow seems to be a tad unhinged…
