These days, more and more clothes are advertised as ‘wrinkle free’, with reduced or no need to iron as long as you pull them out of the dryer as soon as the cycle is done. One day, kids will ask ’what’s ironing?’
Iron? What’s that? Actually we don’t have any clothes that really require it. But I will admit to actually ironing sheets. There is nothing as luxurious as slipping into a bed made up with ironed sheets. It would be even more luxurious if someone else ironed them, but needs must.
I wear clothes that don’t actually require ironing (t-shirts and jeans). But unless you hang the shirts, which I don’t, they need to be ironed after getting them off a stack. Besides, I don’t like looking like I slept in my clothes.
Ellie you need to get organized. Set aside a day for certain chores. Monday is laundry and ironing. Tuesday is shopping. Wednesday is book review. There problem solved. I will send you my bill.
I dislike ironing… however will do it when need to which means the night before husband has big meeting the next day – I am ironing his shirt. Other than that I do not iron! But I do love doing laundry (weird huh).
Every week I iron my husbands button up work shirts. He doesn’t have to wear a tie anymore but it’s still no polo shirts, button up only. They don’t look too bad straight out of the dryer but ironing them just makes them a little crisper, get that nice crease down the sleeve.
I love to iron. It makes my clothes feel and look like new. I’ll trade your ironing for my dirty dishes. I don’t like to wash dishes and will put that off as long as I can.
I procrastinate the same way, but honestly, I don’t get the whole ironing problem. I have one pair of summer pants that need to be ironed and two blouses. The rest is clothes that you hang up to dry and that’s that. My husband irons his shirts himself. And the rest of the laundry (sheets, shirts) just don’t deserve to be ironed.
I make sure I buy clothes that don’t need to be ironed. If wrinkles happen, like from packing them in a suitcase…..they have wrinkle remover spray that works really well now a days.
All of our clothes are of the wrinkle-free variety, but that didn’t do much good when I was using the “fluff & fold” laundry services in the UK. They would put the clothes into a centrifuge to spin out more water than the washer could handle, and then dry on high heat. I had to iron everything! I once tried to do the laundry myself (it was located in a laundromat, and one could choose whether to do-it-yourself or use the fluff & fold service) and I had to fight with the attendant over the temperature on the dryer. He kept turning it up to high and I kept turning it back down to “permanent press”. He told me I was wasting time and money by using the lower temperature. I told him it was MY time and money and leave the dryer alone.

I can accomplish a lot of things on my “TO DO” list when I’m putting off one task that I dislike.

Ironing? So 20th century. I haven’t ironed anything in the last decade.

Neither have I. Just hang up any clothes that are a little wrinkled and they will look great by morning. Of course I live in a humid climate ha!

As I saw elsewhere today on GoComics …
All this stuff sounds like it could go on a to-don’t list.

Careful, Elly. If you don’t watch out, that finger of yours will become a character of it’s own!
