What’s the matter with washing it yourself, Mr. Otterloop?

In many places, you aren`t supposed to wash your car in your driveway using any detergents because the water goes straight into the storm sewers, bypassing treatment.

As for the car wash, here in St. Petersburg sometimes we aren’t allowed to wash our cars in the driveway because of the drought. (It’s okay now.)I would hope that Mr. O. fares better with the car wash than I did when my Wisconsin van had six-plus inches of snow on the top. I went through the car wash two or three times, but still had to haul around a snow crown till well into spring.

In winter I take advantage of the discount day at the local car wash for a basic clean— the road treatments for ice put a layer of salt on the car and a rinse every week or so is required.
