Having a fixed rate of 28% on capital gains would hurt those taxpayers that would qualify for a lower rate under existing law (small investors). Why not restore the capital gains rate to the same level as taxable income (as during the Clinton years) ? This would help the middle class as the president purports to do.

Just eliminating the tax breaks corporations and the very rich get would solve most of the problem as long as we don’t start another trillion dollar war.

That’s the Republican response to EVERYTHING Obama proposes. It’s no wonder Obama refers to dealing with congress as “Kabuki theater”.

Obama’s 6th SOTU, another Obama’s America Fairy Tale,Featuring Increased Spending on an already huge annual deficit and over $18 Trillion Debt ($10.6 T when he did his first SOTU); demanding at least a 7% increase to spend, of the Obama Monopoly counterfeit dollars.-Higher Taxes for socialist redistribution, but the government just mis-spends most of tax revenues, and the poor are kept poor, as a useful re-election tool for the Democratic Lefty candidates.-Truth will not attend, or be allowed to speak in the SOTU.-The USA true status is 1. Most citizens in history without a job; 2. most people on Food Stamps ever; 3. the Ship of State still on a heading for disaster; 4. US Military being cut in numbers of men and ships and bases while personal freedom to express opinions and Faith is silenced by gag rules, and not allowed to identify and profile America’s most dangerous enemies who are also the world’s most dangerous enemies…Islamic Global Jihad to gain power to eliminate all other Laws for full Sharia control, and all other Faiths that worship gods other than Allah and certainly the elimination of Judeo-Christian worship of the Creator God of the Bible.5. US protection, aid and acceptance enforced by the Obama Security For Muslims 8-year Agenda.-I will not tune in to this anti-Constitutional-USA speech given by the (“I warned You”) transformational president, because I believe in God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit and I believe in the 1787 Founders’ version of America.

Interesting that “fiscal conservatives” never see the need to bring in what they spend, on wars, oil company subsidies, “defense”, and banker bonuses.

“Sensible people know everything has to be paid for by someone!”Sensible people know it’s outrageous to spend more money on the military than China, Russia, and 1/2 of Europe COMBINED. Sensible people know it’s wasteful for Congress to purchase tanks and planes for the military that the military doesn’t even want. Sensible people know that it’s stupid to cut food stamps for the poor under the guise of deficit reduction while retaining the majority of the corporate welfare contained in the same spending bill.

“Increase taxes = decrease revenues, GDP, employment.”Interesting. Those are the same results we got when Republicans kept decreasing taxes on the wealthy.
