Related to today’s Cul de Sac:

Panel 6, the tree is shaking in its roots!!

I often tried to make my own kite as a kid, using my grandmother’s old book entitled something like “50 Things Any Boy Can Do.” I now realise that they must have used a different kind of paper than we had available.

We used Charlie Brown cartoons to make our homemade kites.

The kite-eating tree does have a nice smile, though…

So CB is the only one who flies kites in his area? Huh, that suggests to me that the area is not good for kite flying in some manner…maybe too windy or not windy enough or something. Could explain why CB has such a hard time trying to pull it off.

Either that or it’s just a case that nobody else is interested and CB, as usual, is the oddball on the matter and he’s just bad at it.

Congratulations Charlie Brown, you made a tree felt bad.

I wish it was kite flying season.

And in the next panel, Lucy breaks out into “BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!”

We may have to wait until August when all the snow is finally melted here in New England to fly kites!

This one made me laugh. Something that doesn’t happen very often.

I think I made one kite. It didn’t work very well. I’ve flown a few that I bought, and they didn’t work very well either. Perhaps if I purchased more expensive ones….

Boomerangs were my accomplishment. I learned how to make ones that few nicely.

Wow, a rare sense of accomplishment from Charlie Brown. Now if he would only kick that football…

Now I understand why the tree outside the bedroom window in “Poltergeist” acted the way it did! It was just hungry for attention…

I’ll tell you one thing, though—the sport section of the newspaper in the 60s? No good for kites.
