About the time this strip was first published, my elementary school decided girls shouldn’t do regular pushups. Instead, they instituted what they called “girls’ pushups”, done with the knees bent. No explanation as to why they were better for the gals than the regular kind.
I remember once Shermy made some remark about Charlie Brown having some pathological need to lose…after that, it seemed, we hardly saw him around. (Also newer character crowded him out.)
